Occasional red light on high coolant temperature!!

It has happened to me twice. Both times, at or near 100 degrees and extended stop fir road construction. Both times also with about a 5 to 10 mph tail wind preventing fan from moving air thru my radiator.

here is what i know. traded my 13 r3t for a 15 r3t new left over. i think the cooling systems have bin changed because the fan
sounds different air flow is less and the new one runs hotter. i think the new bike would overheat given the chance.
it also has some kinda rubber flaps that i think the fan has to draw open. i will be looking into this and maybe removing the flaps

I'd go to the dealer and inquire. My 2008 had the flaps. I'd be surprised if the cooling system was changed. Perhaps a defective fan.

I think all Rockets will bake a cake they generate so much heat, but as emissions get tighter, they will get leaner and thereby hotter.

Just curious for those who have had the light come on, any idea of the coolant temperature? Anybody have the bike plugged in to the OBD and monitor the temperature?

I have a scan gauge 2 and I've seen 250° F in Phoenix in heavy traffic, but no light.
