Back to business now that hornet's nest has settled down...

The last couple tanks of gas, I've noticed a very a progressive decrease in MPG. I've been running in freezing temperatures (15 to 35 F), so I figured some of it is because of the conditions and letting the bike warm up a little more, but the last tank went so fast I thought the low fuel light went bonkers when I got the signal at only 50 miles, so I ignored it figuring I could go the usual 150 to 180 miles before I had to look for fuel.

Well, at 118 miles I ran flat out of gas at a busy intersection. That's a horrid 18 to 19 MPG! Anyone else running in the cold experience the same?
The only performance mods on my bike are TORs, catbypass, Barnet clutch parts and the undertank K&N filter. Those have been in place for over half a year. Only very recent mod is I put in Progressive shocks.

That is low mpg , you must be getting really heavy with the right hand . Perhaps the new suspension is making you go faster through the bends

The boost the cold air gives the engine makes the ride real snappy :p but I don't think I've been Rocketing any different in the cold. If anything, I'm a little slower because I ain't gonna push the reduced traction that freezing temperatures bring. Just gonna have to watch the fuel a bit more.

The rocket does like the cold air , more responsive , but this rider is getting pissed at freezing ones nuts off on each ride at moment :?
But spring is coming .

The TOR/bypass secondaries etc have not influenced my MPG's

I've been riding a lot below freezing and The result is more MPG
Guess I slow down a bit in cold weather.

The minute the sun is out and the roads get dry my MPG drop like a brick

Welcome to the "PUSH IT TO THE GASSTATION CLUB"

I sucked her dry ones in 137 mls

You pulled it off in 118 8) WOW 8) You win

check with the gas station you use, several cities switch to a "winter" formula of fuel, it has lower performance, something to do with emmissions during winter.

don't rember where I read that, but I have heard it before.

Yes, we are just going off 'Winter' gas, "oxygenated" to reduce emissions. Don't have a clue about the chemistry but the fuel attacks rubber hoses and has been the cause of numerous fires from fuel lines that fail. (Sniff around the bike, you don't have a leak do you?) I had the airbox all off for a time and did not put the air sensor in a mounting as described by MiamiDave in his great post. I was lazy and zip tied the sensor up so it wouldn't bang around but it was exposed to the engine heat. As the ecu tried to correct for all my tinkering the bike began to die at idle, search at idle, (up and down rpm) and mileage dropped to 20 mpg. I put the airbox back on, still have Jardines and PC and left the secondaries out. Did the twelve minute tune and all is forgiven, except when I am riding around town and feeling (or maybe it is acting) stupid I get a reliable 20 mpg. some better on the freeway. I never really get in to the 'cruize' mode so the mileage has suffered. What a great bike. Do you think we can get the mileage a little lower with the Turbo?

I haven't seen or whiffed any evidence of a fuel leak, but I'd better look under the tank and check the connections and lines. 19 MPG is way too low for even a throttle happy Captain.

Check tyre pressure as these big rear tyres look OK till nearly 0 pressure!!! I scrubbed a whole tyre out and looked at all other rteasons except obvious, and do remember mpg down ++++. But then I,m stupid++ Embarrassing just to reflect, but quietly check tyers!!
