Not good for 2013

Yep, read the same thing on this site last night. Poor guy was considering buying another ECU just to work around the sideswipe from Triumph.

There is a good thread on trriumphrat.net about this, supposedly only the Tiger been verified to be tamperproof. They are making a mistake, I won't be buying a new Triumph ever again if this is true.

i dont think its just Triumph doing it mate its most breeds i think

All this **** is comin from the European Parliament F**kheads. They have passed a law about anti tampering on bikes. BUT they can't say what the law will be and what bikes it will effect because they havent worked the "Technical Content" out yet.

Ecu

Crap, my wife wants a new 2013 Thunderbird, but if the ECU is is going to be tamperproof then we might need to consider getting something else.
Or persuade her to get a 2012.
We need to know for sure.

I'd suggest calling Triumph North America.

Triumph Motorcycles North America
100 Hartsfield Centre Parkway
Atlanta, GA 30354
Main Telephone: (678) 854-2010
Customer Service: (888) 283-5288
Dealer Development: (678) 854-2010, extension 2046

I spoke with the dealer on this today, and the sales guy called the regional sales manager. He assured me the 2013 was not tamper proof - only the Tiger series has that feature - but was told the ECU will indicate what tampering has been done. Thus, unless an authorized dealer changes the tune to one of only a couple Triumph authorized tunes, one risks voiding any warranty. I'm won't 100% certain this is correct, however, until someone here tries to do it and reports the results.

Soooo the EU had to pass a bill before they could find out what is in it? Sounds eriely like something they would do in this country:)
