After making the decision to go with TuneECU, triple K&N's and Jardines before the beast gets worked over by Carpenter I discovered that TuneECU is not for 2013 models. Apparently the new bikes have a tamper prof ECU?? Anyone heard about this and is it true?? **** I hope not :(:(

I think there is a post about this issue on this forum cannot recall as to when but fairly recent . I would not be surprise if there was such a tamper proof innovation built in the ECU ..

No worries mait ! Power commander installs between the ecu and the fuel injectors so modifying the fueling is still possible. Not sure on the ignition timing.

Yes this is correct they have changed to the anti tamper system

as Rocket Scientist says just use pcv instead

You can blame this on the non-elected ****heads that make up the legislative powers in the EU. They have effectively made it illegal to sell, modify or fit non-standard parts now.

****!! I'm glad I found this out before I hooked up something that would damage the ECU. Thanks for the response guys.

Any chance that an older ECU can be fitted to the newer bike? Say an ECU off a 2012? Just a random thought...not that I would try and get around the goals of some non-elected ****head or anything :D

Are we 100% sure that the 2013 ECU is tamper-proof? Not that sales folks are necessarily the go to people for info, but the dealer I spoke with today didn't think that was the case on the 2013 Rocket. He said he was 99% sure it was only the Tiger series given the traction control/cruise features. I'm trying to decide on a 2012 versus 2013 model right now, so this is very important.

Also, I'd be fine using the PCV, as long as there was confirmation that it can override the top speed limitations of the ECU. Can someone confirm that is possible? If so, it'll be the 2013 for me.

There is a good thread on trriumphrat.net about this, supposedly only the Tiger been verified to be tamperproof. They are making a mistake, I won't be buying a new Triumph ever again if this is true.

I believe that the tamper-proofing applies to the most recently introduced engine platforms.

From the TuneECU website:

Attention!! Very Important !! Never connect TuneECU with the new Triumph Tiger Explorer, all models- Trophy, all models - new Street Triple model 2013, new Daytona675 model 2013.

Have the dealer check the part numbers for the 2012 vs. 2013 ECU on the Roadster.
