So, despite the objections, will Columbus Day (Friday 9 October through Monday the 12th) weekend work for enough to reach a critical mass ? Is there really too much traffic in the area that weekend to make it practical ?

And, @R3Tex did you try TwoWheelsSuches and get no response ? They show a number of events on their calendar, though nothing past September.

Chatted online with Gabi at the A Holiday Motel in Maggie Valley. The weekend of Oct 15-18 (Thu-Sun) looks better than most other weekends. We would need to get a good count of rooms to her right away.
