Thanks atomsplitter, Tony is looking into it.
When I talked to Tony, he had a demo in Matte Black. He offered to check it out and see if it was perfect.
He had it washed, priced it and called me back.
The tank and fender were "scuffed". He offered a great out the door price though.
When I think of demo bike, the first thought that comes to mind is of the Triumph video of the rider pulling wheelies and skidding around the track. The second is of a novice rider grinding gears. Makes me a little uncomfortable, although the Triumph is likely built to withstand it. Couple that with having a five hour drive to see it ... and I'll pass.
He also offered to swap out the skins (tank, fender...) on the matte black with a new Phantom Black.
Given that the skins were "scuffed" and that he was asking near full price, which only an Aussie would love (no offense- loved my time in Sydney and Hobart), that also became a pass.
But I appreciate it being brought to my attention.
I also had the closest two dealers price the Phantom Black. The first quote has come in and I would like to hereby declare my undying love for the Phantom Black Rocket Roadster III! It's the best color (or lack thereof) ever.
Thanks to all responders for their time.
