No more matte blacks R3Rs in Texas

Not as bad as you wish!

ha, i dont wish.
if i didnt want it or couldnt afford it i wouldnt have bought it.
from what i hear matte blacks are hard to find.
i paid 13499 for my new 2011.

my dealer does have a phantom black on the floor. pm me if u want the number.

Daryl...I think the two that you saw were the demo bikes and D&D had to give them back to Triumph...could be wrong...but I remember they were in the "tied off" area in the back of the showroom.

Dennis

80 dtg Dubai
81 dtg Home for good!

Nope, the two I'm talking about were out front on the showroom. The demo bikes are roped off in the back of the showroom.

...oh...guess I don't remember them...as I was probably just focusing on mine at the time.

Thanks Molinoman, Daryl. I called D&D and they only have Phantom Black. Might have worked out too, since we're thinking of vacationing in the panhandle next month.

Congrats, that is a great price. I have no problem finding the Phantom Blacks. That color really is starting to grow on me (sour grapes ;)).

Thanks atomsplitter, Tony is looking into it.

European Cycle Sport in Plano had one on display last week. Might have been sold. Dunno. Didn't ask.

We trudge on.

Thanks wetrudgeon. You found one. Wonder why Lone Star and Gulf Coast didn't see it when they did a state wide inventory search.

Unfortunately, they are very proud of it. Want full MSRP+TT&L+Delivery (to their dealership) +Assembly. That's bad enough, plus I would have to fly up. About six hours home might be fun on a Rocket, but the way things are going, it would rain (late snow anyone).

Thanks atomsplitter, Tony is looking into it.

When I talked to Tony, he had a demo in Matte Black. He offered to check it out and see if it was perfect.

He had it washed, priced it and called me back.

The tank and fender were "scuffed". He offered a great out the door price though.
When I think of demo bike, the first thought that comes to mind is of the Triumph video of the rider pulling wheelies and skidding around the track. The second is of a novice rider grinding gears. Makes me a little uncomfortable, although the Triumph is likely built to withstand it. Couple that with having a five hour drive to see it ... and I'll pass.

He also offered to swap out the skins (tank, fender...) on the matte black with a new Phantom Black.
Given that the skins were "scuffed" and that he was asking near full price, which only an Aussie would love (no offense- loved my time in Sydney and Hobart), that also became a pass.
But I appreciate it being brought to my attention.

I also had the closest two dealers price the Phantom Black. The first quote has come in and I would like to hereby declare my undying love for the Phantom Black Rocket Roadster III! It's the best color (or lack thereof) ever.

Thanks to all responders for their time.
