Are you referring to the "Ignition" and "Combustion" projects?
Ignition Concept by Urs Erbacher | Victory Performance
Attached full press release based off their site.
No real numbers or specs other than it looks like 1200cc liquid cooled. In the press release it says: "We will continue to take this engine platform and deliver on
the promise of American muscle in every current and future
product we sell.”
I doubt they will have an engine larger than R3. I think triumph will hold the production cc title for a very long time. I think the market has spoken. If it was a battle of sales, they would have been dethroned by now and as we all know the R3 doesn't get treated like a flag ship bike like they claim it is.
The market is geared towards smaller, more affordable bikes, in regards to cruisers. Look at all the new bikes in the last two years to come out between 750cc-1200cc range. They are targeting young riders who can afford an entry level bike for their brand and hope they stay loyal. The Diavel, Vmax, R3, and VROD are the 4 big muscle cruisers and they all share a common denominator: they all don't sell well. They are for enthusiasts and tuners and gearheads who want the biggest punch on a badass bike.
While I'm not certain how well Victory motorcycles sell, I feel like if they tried to dethrone the R3, hardly anyone would buy it and it would drift into obscruity after 3-5 years. But who knows, maybe I'm completely wrong ha-ha!
