Has anyone run the new Rocket against the old yet.... just curious?

My roadster was Very aggressive in acceleration and the new one is far more refined... my feeling is the new one takes it over distance and the numbers would seem to prove this but straight off the line over a short run I’m not sure! It just feels so smooth its deceiving!!
One of my riding buddies has a Diavel and he could easily best me in any kind of impromptu race with my 15 Touring, and it wasnt even close. With the new GT its who ever got into the throttle first and on inclines I have him covered. Now of course the R is quicker than the Touring but I think the 2020s will bury the R. It will be interesting to see.

I routinely perform 0-60 launches under 3 seconds on my slightly modified 2017 R3R. Launching bikes is my thing. I've always had a good feel for clutch-power-traction, been doing it for 30 years and have two sub 3-second 0-60 bikes, it's one of my favorite things to do.

I have a buddy with a BMW S 1000 R, I think, can't remember right now, he has true launch control and can turn it on/off. When it's off, I take him every time, when it's on, he pulls away. Launch control is the real deal, impressive feature, would love to have it on the Rocket. I hate to admit this but the computer is better than humans for power launching 0-60 runs, at least better than this human. ;)

I have a '14 R3R with filter/pipe/dynotune and 160rwhp. 2 years ago I raced a Diavel from a stop. I was maybe two feet ahead around the rev limit of third gear, which is set at 6900 rpm.
This is probably just about what the R/GT can do stock, or maybe still a bit better. If the 2.5 gets a few simple improvements, it will be quicker though.

Launch control is basically an anti-wheelie control program. It allows starts with large throttle openings and a "dumped"clutch, the ECU balancing the power and tyre grip to give maximum acceleration without the front wheel coming up.

When you see a MotoGP rider doing a wheelie after the race, it's HIM doing it, not the bike.

Shift assist/quickshifter allows clutchless throttle-on gear changes by momentarily adjusting the engine operation so the gearbox bits line up. The Rocket quickshifter allows all up and down changes except for first gear. With down changes, the ECU even "blips" the engine to get the revs right.

My wifes car (Golf GTI40 "Clubsport") has launch control but you have to go through a series of switches/trickery to get it to work, first is disabling the Traction Control, left foot on brake then engage sport mode, gas pedal to over 3200rpm then drop the brake when ready, it overboosts the engine for about 20 seconds also. By all reports great fun. Its on my "to try" list but not when she's in the car;)

So a good thing for the new Rocket would have been a launch control to get you off the mark, to 60mph/100kph real quick, in first gear, then the quickshifter for a full-throttle-on change to second.....

Gettin' scary...............!

BMW recommends not to, but if you do, it needs to be WOT at high RPM. Anyone use the quick shifter on the R3 at WOT from 1st to 2nd?
