I'm taking mine in next week for servicing, any idea how much it will cost me to have them check out the drive shaft?

$155 from my dealer to just check it. I bought $10.50 worth of 60 Moly grease from Honda to put it back together with after the new shaft. Total bill was $553.:mad:

OK, what is the deal with the drive shaft? Does it wear prematurely?

Yes u need to grease ur final drive and driveshaft bout every 8000-1000 miles or u will have the same problem eventually
Final drive=2700$
Driveshaft=$350
Plus labor if u have to pay for it out of pocket

They definitely need to put out a service bulletin on That, I wonder if a person could put a grease fitting on top of the drive shaft tube. :rolleyes: I'm going to take mine apart later on tonight I'll let you know what I find with my rocket it does seem strange. I can remember when we used to have to greasy cars and one of the spots was the end of the drive shaft yoke were it slid on the splines.

No idea why Triumph doesn't have some sort of nipple there for lubrication ... Or why they are yet to issue a Service Bulletin advising dealers to check/grease the driveshaft. I grease mine every time i put a new rear tyre on.

Just took mine apart dry as a popcorn fart do not know what the lubricant is that they are using but it is just red dust I took a screwdriver and cleaned it out no damage to splines They are like new, I guess I got lucky also looked no way to put in grease fitting you have to physically take it apart stuff grease down in the female coupling and reassemble fun fun fun

Thanks Jesse for letting us know your rear end adventures:eek:
Just kidding! Did you clean out all the old grease? or just leave it in there?

This entire deal is very interesting. I looked all through the maintenance schedule and in less I am blind it’s not there. It makes perfect since that you need to re grease it every so often so why doesn't Triumph tell you to do it. It looks like they want you to purchase a new drive shaft every so often. Thanks for the heads up I will have them check mine at the next tire change. Which should make the bill just a little less.
