2009 Rocket 3 Roadster and 2013 Bonneville T100
Couple of months ago, had my eye on a marble red 2013 T-bird and came away with a "brand new" black 2009 Rocket 3 Roadster. Test drove the rocket after the T-bird, and like everyone else, became instantly addicted to the mind-blowing power and excellent handling. Replaced the 3:2:1 pipes with TORS and replaced the catalytic converter with a silencer upgrade kit. Sounds like a WWII fighter plane engine now and I suppose I gained a few more HP. Also have a black 2013 Bonneville T100 with Norman Hyde pipes that I absolutely love as well. This is a great forum.

Welcome aboard. Did you really find a brand new '09? That's quite a find if you did. From your description of the exhaust changes you made it sounds like it is - so therefore isn't a Roadster (they're 2010+) although the 3:2:1 is a bit confusing. Standards/Classics were 3:1:3. Roadsters 3:1:2. Regardless if what is, you already know why most of us have one. We rode one!

Thanks! Yes, it had never left the showroom floor and had never been serviced to ride until I insisted on test riding that one. Your point is well taken in that yes, up through 2009, what was later called a Roadster in 2010 and beyond, was called the Classic before. I don't see much difference between the two, except the year of manufacture. It was named a Classic, but i like to refer to it as the "type" of bike I consider it to be. I may not have the formal nomenclature down correctly, but by 3:2:1, I was attempting to describe 3 pipes, 2 on the right and 1 on the left. I prefer these pipes over the 2010+ pipe configuration. Good to hear from down under. A lengthy visit there is definitely on my bucket list.

Roadsters have ABS brakes and foot controls back -more under the hip- also gear position indicator. Different seat, different exhaust cans, and other small changes.
oh welcome from one of the Aussies.

The RIII Classic is way better that the Roadster, IMHO. (except for the ABS) Welcome to the forum. You will find all sorts of good stuff here.

Welcome INDEED and congrats on the new ride!
Don't mind those blokes from OZ, they pick fly $hit outta pepper with details, details, details. :p
@CanberraR3 has a good head for details and should be doing crash work like I. :D
From where do you hail? ( STL=St. Louis?) Might consider adding your town under your avatar.
Enjoy the ride!

And the Standard is way better than the Classic..........
Just sayin'. ;)

Whatever you guys say! All I know is that with all the faults of my lowly "Classic", that is probably why my bike was $3K less than 2010 or 2013 "Roadster" :(;)
