New owner from St. Louis, MO

Hi all, I just picked up a new 2023 Triumph Rocket 3 GT in black a couple months ago. It took a while to receive the bike from CA and to get it registered but I am finally up and running and loving the bike so much. It is nice to have a cruiser that accelerates, turns and stops so well. I have been riding and racing sport bikes for 20+ years and I do have to admit the forward controls took a bit to get used to. I kept leaving stops and freaking out that I couldn't find my pegs. I am finally getting comfortable on the bike and I am still well within the break in period so it will take a couple more weeks before I hit the magic 1000 miles where I can really start opening the bike up. Anyway, thought I would say hi and introduce myself.

I purchased the neutral position control set but opted to not install them yet as several of my friends talked me into trying the forward controls for a while as they have said they will be much more comfortable for longer rides. This is our poker run, longer road trip bike so I wanted it to be as comfortable as possible. I did install the shift assist and it seems to work pretty well, thus far.

If the butt and back pain doesn't bother you, the forwards will work. Most of us have moved to the mid controls to take weight off the seat. Also, if you like going fast the forwards catch air and try to fly.
You'd have to get mid shift assist parts too.

You are spot on. It is a bit weird when you go fast with the forward controls. I also purchased the mid control parts for the shift assist when I purchased the mid controls. I wanted to have everything to swap the parts myself, whenever I felt like it.
