New - looking to get an R3

Ibified, as I did try to suggest earlier, some of us are still young enough to have a few marbles rolling around the cranial cavity...:eek:

Welcome, ibified or 'Stoned on Your Azz', judging by your avatar!o_O

Oh boy, you're in for it now! (BTW, I had two VTX 1800s and, yes, they (combined) don't even come close to my Mulberry Mistress.;)

Thanks all for the warm welcomes!! My only concern is maintenance - the closest dealer is about 2 hours away.

I completely agree about the hayabusa not being comfortable on long trips - my middle aged back doesn't want to deal with that any more...

Here's the current ride:

Regular maintenance items are pretty simple on the R3. Most mechanical failures involve a small range of problems but the bike no inherent weak point, like, for example the M109r’s magic exploding bevel box trick.

The regular maintenance items list is short to be honest:
Air filter(various depends)
Oil (manual calls for 10k changes)
Lube Shaft splines (on tire change)
Diff oil (yearly suggested)
Tires(whenever)
Brake pads (stock go quick, EBC HH last much longer)

Outside of those it’s just standard bike stuff, cables, bearings, fork seals, etc like any other.

A few tools you’ll want:
N-M torque wrench low and high range
30mm socket
1.5” socket
Good T handle metric ball Allen set
19mm Allen socket
8,10,12,15 wrenches and sockets

Think I could rebuilt 90% of the bike with just that.

Welcome from Christchurch New Zealand.

You won't regret buying a Rocket iii puts a grin a mile wide on your face every time you ride it.

Welcome from another Aussie. Have you ridden an R3 yet? If you have'nt, go and do it. Then your question will answer itself. You will just have to have it and work the rest out as you go. Plenty of great advice and experience right here on the forum. So my suggestion is get out there and purchase your very own 2.3ltr silly grin.
