States that don't have inspections might have time bombs rolling down the road. But I reckon you still have to comply with some kind of law in keeping your vehicle safe...and they will happily ticket you if you are found wanting.
In Michigan auto registration goes by the MSRP of the car. Most of my vehicles cost somebody around $40,000 before I bought them a couple years old for half that. My plates run around $120.00 a vehicle. Bike registration is cheap. Rocket plates are less than $30.00 as I recall. The problem is the registration stays at that price for the life of the vehicle. After a time the registration costs more than the cars worth.

I suspect they are encouraging you to buy new cars, and thereby keep the factories open....fat lot of good that has done however. Would the last one out of Detroit please turn off the lights???
Just bought my girlfriend a RAV 4 it was inspected in May of this year. Went to register it at the DMV they're telling me i have 6 days to get it reinspected. It's all about the money...!!
