New here and very new to Rocket 3

Welcome from New Zealand. I too have a bike (my GS1000, not my Rocket) that's been sitting for some years. I'm doing some work on it now - but on carburetors! Won't be doing THAT on the Rocket - but great suggestions above. Cheers, Griff

3. It's no need to use expensive fluids and oil for Rocket, it's work wounderful with simple semi-sinthetic automotive 10w-40 oil in 3000-4000 miles interval API SH or higher.
Do NOT use car oil. It has things in that will ruin your clutch. You need motorcycle oil, as per the manual, and 10,000 mile changes with full synthetic as per the manual is all that is needed. But then again, I only had 135,000 miles on mine.

You got me looking at the title again yes it is a 2006 a lot of the advertisements show a black engine for the 2006

So, the aim is to choose oil similiar to 4t oil, thanks guys who make laboratory researches of used oil.
Not only me here buys car oil for his Rocket and everithing is OK. I've even read here about using 5w-40 diesel oil for a long time. It's not the problem for me to buy 4t motorcycle oil, but when it's price higher 4 times only for "moto" signature at the can, it makes me angry. Maybe, at your region there is no great price difference between car and moto oil.
