New bike. First ride. Oil leak...

I have the same problem after 4200 miles, checked the torque on the valve cover bolts and they do not seem to be torqued all the way. I snugged up where I think the problem is and if it does not stop I will bring it in for warranty.

I lost the bottom bolts that hold on the radiator shroud after 1000 miles and the e clip was missing from my right foot peg retainer pin.

None of this is worth loosing sleep over.

I though Triumph quit using the cosmoline in 07-08 time frame? Not 100%sure but thought it was a USA epa thing.

Still worth checking into as it could just be a cam cover gasket or bolt torque thingy.

If you wer enear me we would be taking a closer look with the scope since it is hard to see around all the plastic plumbing.

I do have the same leak on mine and I did pnch the vavle cover gasket on the throttle body side

I seen mine in the crate there was no cosmoline on it so they must have stopped using it.

Yea my Roadster had this stuff on the motor in a couple of places when I got it home after picking it up new. Gave it a wash never had any more drama. But you'd think a simple pre delivery check would pick these things up. Here in Brisbane they charged me over $900.00 for pre delivery and didn't see this stuff running down the side of the engine. Good on ya TeamMoto Springwood. My thought was it was oil from assembly that was never cleaned of.

I collect military surplus rifles and many of them have tons of cosmoline on them. If really bad I will strip the metal off of the wood and put the wood in the dishwasher for a cycle (when the wife is out ).

I am glad my R3 didn't have any cosmo on it, I don't think it will fit in the dishwasher.

How the times have changed once upon a time you would take your new Triumph back to the shop if it did not leak

I don't know about now, but back in my HD shovelhead days, if the puddle wasn't growing by more than 6 inches an hour you didn't even bother to see where it was coming from

It's not an oil leak...it's cosmoline protectant heating up and running off the engine. It will go away quickly...definitely not a warranty issue or something to be concerned about. Go out and put another hundred or so miles on the bike and it will be gone.

Welcome to the club...this has happened to most new Rocket owners on a new bike.

I'm ebmarrased to tell you that when i bought my rocket i had a similar issue, i went to the dealer and raised hell!!!
They told me what it was and they even showed me one they were assembling, i could see that slimy stuff allover, they say sometimes when they wash them before selling them they may miss a spot, specially in the engine where they can't reach.
I didn't feel bad about the "leak", i felt bad about me arguing about it without researching it first

It could be the engines are preserved in cosmoline when assembled. Not sur ewhere the engien plnt is. Anyway maybe they are cleaned before stuffing them into the bike but soem spots are missed and the engine heat once running lets the stuff runn off. epsecilly if th ethrottle bodies and oil tanks are alredy on them prior to full bike assembly.

Just guessing though either way I hope this is what is happening in your case. If not it is under warranty and will be rectified by Triumph.

I actually did have a weeping head gasket when my bike was stiil new and Triumph replaced it without Any Fuss, I have found any warranty issues have been dealt with promptly
