New Avon Cobra Chrome - any good

Those of you using the Chromes, what pressure are you running. The website recommends 38 psi front and 44 psi rear for the regular cobras. Also, can you tell me whether the tires have wear bars and if so, where are they?
I have mine inflated to 43psi front and rear cold.

Would the new Chrome on a front pair well with an Exedra Max on the rear?

I really can't say because I haven't tried it.

What I can say is that I have run an Excedra Max with a Metz and I didn't like it one bit - mind you the tires were quite worn when I got the bike so I may be biased.

Well If you do put a Chrome on the front you would be the first one to give it a shot - why don't you give it a go and report back to the group - always good to try something new/different we will all be interested in your feedback.

I know the Chrome front and rear combination is awesome.

I can't see a problem with a chrome on the front.

I have covered well over 700km now since having the chrome's fitted and I can say that they have performed much better than expected, in my view they are a better performing tire than the std cobra tires. Better grip with superior cornering capability, I am however running stock suspension and comparing with another roadster running std cobra tires. In the wet I can say they offer good grip and are comfortably able to run away from the std cobra shod R3, I am certainly not one to over ride my bike but with the cobra chrome combination they do provide better grip traction and cornering capability than the previous cobra version.

Good to hear and thanks for the reply on the other thread.

The tires were set at 36 psi front and 40psi rear to start with (to help them bed in), I ran these pressures for the first 200km then raised them to 38psi front and 42psi rear (1 up) I am just slightly over 80Kg and those pressures are good for me - great feedback good grip and changing direction is effortless. I will increase both pressures a little as the tires wear but that is a long way off at this time.
Hi John miller I have had the new cobra chrome tyres on now for about 1000miles and can report a huge difference in grip and turning in . Great in the wet and in the dry and the Twisties. Much better than the old Avon cobras and Metz .
I'm running 140/75/17 up front and 240/50/16 rear .
Front 38psi and rear 42psi works great for me 17st 7lbs with suspension set on number 3 .

Just ordered mine here in Australia only new here so I am prob the first Aussie to have the chrome. My Federal has gone cactus so getting rid of it.

@Roscoe you are nearly the first I have had mine fitted up since February this first out of the very first container shipment when they arrived in the country. They are a great tyre you wont be disappointed at all.

If you go back a few pages and read the post you will get a feel how the tyres perform.
