Just mounted avon cobra chrome rear still got life in avon cobra std front has to be changed by end of month for uk mot running 40psi on rear and front my weight 19 stone 120kg with puncture safe standard shocks . Big difference in handling think floor boards will wear before tyres can't wait to fit front chrome think it will be more fun in the corners than ktm and that's saying something

Barbagris I will look into them thanks pal.
Given you are already "within reason" close: they are west Cheshire : you could get them to fit them.

I have the GP20 in - No spring preload but do have rebound adjusters (FOC too). The new SP series have compression and rebound. And preload is available.

I asked if GP30 would fit but was told no. But ask about the SP25 - if these will fit in - get them - the extra oil flow can only help.

AND - if you fit their forks it would make sense to fit their shocks.

imo - the plus of all the "made to order" shocks is they can be damped to cope with the monstrous unsprung rear end of the R3. Most "off the shelf" stuff is made for chain drives and simply do not control the weight well enough.

Bigprop once you have them both on especially if you go with the 140/75/17 up front the bike corners like it is on rails , you will think you have just bought a new sports bike ha ha. No seriously these tyres are like super glue on the corners . Enjoy pal. ,

Barbagris thanks pal , for the info much appreciated

TRUE TRUE!
ime this is little to do with the width. The sidewall reduction using a 150/70 gives the same axle drop (hence rake/trail change). And this makes a huge difference to handling esp with an E-Max on the rear.

I have a theory (though it will not be cheap to test - involving custom rims) that massive width differences front to rear affect handling more than one might think. It's all to do with crown radii.

I know this is hard thing to say to a Yorkshireman - but it will not be cheap.

But I was taking bends a good 10kmh faster with the GP20's from day 1. 1/2 turn off the damping and it was another 5kmh faster still.
That seems to be about my limit. I'm sure the bike has more to give.
