Triumph Rocket III 2006
Hi everone!
The spring is early and soon time use the bike after a long winter.
One thing almost forgotten but remind me right away starting the bike, (Rocket III 2006) is a annoying neutral indicator. Last year it happened rarely but now more frequently that it doesnt indicate neutral. A common problem? Anyway I removed the switch and a small very demolished spring fell out. Where is that supposed to be? Around the "knob" that turns with gears or maybe not at all? (It seems to be to small for that.) The switch number is t1190814? I cant find anything in the manual about this. Does anybody know/has a picture.
Thanks in advance.

if it has not been modified then there is aa small spring and a cap that goes into the hole.
that rubs against the switch.
you can clean the switch contacts with real fine sand paper.
i will try to find pictures
every other year they changed the neutral switch.
sing out if you have other questions

i do not have a pic of the spring and cap some one may have one
if the spring is messed up then someone may have forgot to put the cap on.

two more pictures. One of the sensor and of the gearselector on the engine side. In neutral the gray piece on the selector point at the smallest connector on the sensor. (Grounding this point lit the neutral light. )But the gray piece is made of plastic or anyway non electric connextion. Is it supposed to be something on top of the plastic or something completely different? The depth down to this point is 14mm and the sensor is only 10?

let me start by saying you will be able to start the rocket with the side stand up and the clutch lever pulled in.
starting with the shaft. the shaft should have a hole in it where a spring goes in first the cap goes over the spring. i think after i cleaned mine up i put a little light grease in the cup then put the spring in the cap and installed them as a unit.
now the picture of the sensor shows practically no wear so i am assuming that the cap is stuck or the spring is not in there pushing it out to ride on the sensor.
that sensor sends a signal to the ecu as one of the safety's for starting
i think that you are referring that the cap is plastic no it is not and needs to be cleaned.
i would spray wd40 on it and try to get it out and clean the spring and cap. DO NOT LET EITHER PIECE GO INSIDE THE ENGINE.

ps
the main advantage of having the neutral light is that lets you start the bike with it resting on the kickstand and it in neutral

Thanks, that make sense. It is like the centre piece on a distrubutor cap. On the sensor it is one small area for the neutral and six bigger one for each gear. ( for the sixth gear I assume it is not used because it is a five speed gearbox.?) But is the ecu using the information for each gear or is that for later models? And is it possible that type of sensor is wrong. Some of sensors looks like the spring is on that side. I found a video on YouTube and on this I looks like the cap has the same distance like mine.
