Need recommendations for second motorcyle to replace ST1300

The Super T might be the one that you're looking for. The Ogre has one and seems to really like it.

I personally would take a second look at the 800XCx or XCt Tiger. TBW, Cruise, etc in an affordable and fun package.

Also, with the new Tiger Explorers coming out, you can find incredible deals on the 15 and earlier models. Still lots of them around.

I'll need to test drive the Tiger Explorer 1200 one more time to see how I like it, the 800 did not impress me at all. It was fast, but it was buzzy and over all did not have any real excitement to it. Sometimes they just don't "click" you know what I mean. I'd love to try out the Super Tenere sometime, it's a pretty sweet package especially if you get a nice sounding exhaust for that 270 degree engine!

I'm in the same boat, looking for an adventure tourer. I"ve test ridden the bmw R1200 GSA, Ducati multistrada enduro, and KTM 1290 super adventure. The ducati was the most comfortable, ktm would need a new seat and some risers, but was awesome. The BMW is the most tried and true, but I found it a little boring. So I am most likely going with the ktm or duke, I'll have to ride them both again, very tough decision.

I have a Yamaha FZ1, super light, upright and super quick. It feels like riding a 10 speed bicycle after riding the Rocket, a bicycle with Ferrari power.

Okay, let me throw a total wrench into the thought process. I am looking to get a Ural 2wd rig for my additional bike. The Ural Patrol and Gear-up both have a drive shaft giving power to the side car and will be my snow/icy/off-road bike of the future. It is not sporty at all but still seems to be a fun alternative to others and can carry a tremendous about of gear or a couple of adults; one on the pillion behind you and one in the sidecar. Talk about different...

Other than fiscal resource cacafuego by means of promulgation I see no reason for the question. IMO unless a particular two(or three)-wheeled stablemate has captured your fancy I'd hang on to the "resources" until one does.

But this Yamaha is appealing because it does come with all the same electronic packages that the other bikes do (Cruise Control, Semi Active Suspension, rider Modes, Throttle by wire ETC) and best of all it's pretty much half the price of the other bikes. I've always like Yamaha's for their styling and engineering! Too bad there aren't any used models for sale that are that much less then brand new, but I guess thats the issue with bikes that are just a couple of years old

I had a Honda ST1300 for years which I loved. I also felt the pull for more off road (mostly dirt roads, trails, etc.. nothing too extreme) and went to a 2012 Super T. I did like the electronic packages and the bike seemed so light and nimble. So for off road it fit. But for on road I really felt it lacked. The 6th gear was nice but it didn't have the power, torque I was used to and sounded like it was trying too hard at highway speeds. It still had a bit more to give at highway speed but it just didn't sound like it did as you were moving along. I only had one primary bike though, was riding less and less off road anyway. So I went to the Rocket for on road and I love it. The Super T would be nice to still have for a trail day, but around here there are less and less trails open to bikes too. Hope you find what you're looking for.

The Tiger Explorer makes lots of power, you just have to find it....twist that wick a little farther....it's there.
