The reason the lights dim is generally as a result of the switch starting to go bad, the resistance increases and thus reduces the voltage to the bulb. If the switch is good the EB kit wont give you much or any improvement in brightness but it will protect the switch.

..the Eastern Beaver mod?..yes, that is the point of doing it..and much brighter headlights is a secondary benefit.

PS: Please note that I wire by fuse . . . when the fuses don't blow, I assume the wiring is correct.

I'm not sure if the 2012 needs the mode, some of the members say that in 2011 they corrected the problem but we will let them chime in and verifie or denay that:-D

Easy peasy way to tell... Before I did the mod, I felt the ignition cable, whilst the bike was running..OUCH! burning hot!
After the mod, cool to the touch. Does your 2012 ignition loom feel cool or not?

Where is the ignition cable? Last few months Ive noticed a very faint smell of burnt or heated plastic. Ive been wondering if its something to do with the headlights.
But sometimes my boots touch the exhaust when I get off and I also put it down to that.

The ignition feed wire is white or white/blue. It will feel much stiffer than the other copper wires because it's been heated and cooled so many times. Lost its flexibility, transfers movement/flexing to the solder joint on the base of the switch, solder cracks, bingo.......no go nowhere.......

Just reach for the wires under(&going into) the ignition barrel......How hot do they feel?

I had a good feel around the wiring and couldnt find anything abnormally warm.
