My new seat

That is true. I average 300+ miles per weekend much of which are 300 only stopping for fuel. It is a little hard but it seems to be better than the old one. I plan on sending it to Russle day long when I can save enough cash.

Whered'ya get the panniers NM? Also it looks like you've got the switch for the heated grips, but the fancy twistgrips fitted, I didn't know you could do that?
Mike
The panniers were on it when I baught it. They are made by corbin.
The switch is for the fog lights, the one for the grips does nothing at this time cuz like you said with the Iso grips you can't get heat.
Also planning a breakaway cruise which is not compatible with heated grips.

That's a heck of a deal. It's good to see someone providing a good service at a nominal price. It sure beats spending $600+ for a seat upgrade.

I was wondering if anyone is running the optional Triumph Roadster Gel Seat, or have had any problems installing this seat:

I am currently running a Triumph Solo Gel seat with a standard passenger pillion, and am looking for combination front and rear seat this is not only comfortable, but stylish.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

I have the standard classic seat on my classic...strangley enough the same as the first pic and both my partner and I find it very good. We have done a 6 hour ride with only 2 stops and not a numb bum in sight. I will also say that I am rather on the large side.

Wow! That is very interesting, G-Man. So is that why trials riders stand up on the pegs? Just kidding.

I've had gel seats on two other bikes and never experienced that (the heat) before. It may, in fact, be Triumph's answer to the electrically heated seat.

That said, did you like the riding position (I'm 6'1" and shrinking)? Because, like what you did, I can always insulate and recover it. I like the look of the tapered pillion gel model, rather than the stock touring seat, which seems to be tapered in the wrong direction.

If mucho mile munching is your deal and you have a skinny Irish arse like me!!!!...Get an AirHawk and achieve Nirvana.
Hope this helps.........

Gary

*LOL* I donno if my arse is skinny, but it's 3rd generation Irish-American. Maybe Americans sit on their asses more than the Irish, so they don't mind it as much...or maybe it's just the natural progression of evolution. ;-)

Ah, the Airhawk. My best friend bought one of those for his Multistrada. His wife liked it so much she stole it from him for use on her scooter. Got a photo of your Airhawk on your R3 you can share?

Much obliged for the shout and the info!

Gary, come to think of it, I met some riders in Pensacola, FL who told me the same thing. They recommended laying a towel over the seat while away from the bike to avoid enhancing the savage tan on ones ass.

I have an Airhawk and keep it in reserve. Best seat pad investment I ever made. I kept it in "standby" after getting a Corbin for my Rocket but then took it with me to Oklahoma and used it on my V-Strom ride from OK City to San Antonio.

Nice work, Gary. Expertly done. I particular like the cord tie-offs, since most seats do not have a lip at the bottom to attach the bungees -- and if you did hook onto it, the seat would end up with puncture wounds.

I think I'm gonna wait to buy the Roadster Gel Seat, since it retails for only $299. Maybe I'll get lucky on eBay and find one stateside at a good price. The only one for sale is on eBay UK, and they want 95 quid ($150) to ship it.
