My first 200 miles on the Darkside

now just wait for the Nay Sayer Experts
Hanso I have only done about 8000 ks on federal 595 so far and got PSI at 28, works for me . If I was to rely on the bike to corner for me purely via leaning would go for the Excedra Max. I m used to counter steering and making it happen ,I think its a mind set /riding style .Havent had the luxury of not having to personally strive for results. All the more satisfying IMO

Yeah the Federal is a good tyre and what I will go back to unless the Bridgey changes my mind but the jury is still out .... we'll see

Ahhhh, but I did grease with regularity. End of my two.cents worth. You duh experts.

And as usual, Art, you make another inaccurate assumption. I average about 9k / year on the bike. Each winter the rear end is fully serviced including lubing the splines.
OK thats good so you take the bike apart yourself to lube the splines BUt others would have to go to a dealer for that
For me it was pure and simple economics. I am on my third season on my Riken and it has enough tread to use it all this year. Riding the flat lands sucked on a Metz rear wear. Now that I r up here in the mountains I feel a bike tire coming back on me. I bought the Storm and have been riding it up here and grinding the peg feeler nuts off because it handles so much better. Need to get back to doing the same on my Rocket. Can't beat the Riken for wet weather traction. I still think that all that rubber contact patch stressed the splines on the drive shaft leading to an early replacement.
SO JOSEY did you take your bike apart at 10K and lube the splines ?

Art give it a break even if you paid a shop to grease the splines money saved by not replacing the tyre at the same time would be worth it and that is if you were able to get 10,000km or miles out of a Motocyle Tyre

THATS true but Im wondering why the splines failed on Joseys bike ??

There is a roadster not far from me that is having a driveshaft replaced while still under warranty as it is starting to fail and it has never seen a DS tyre nor is it likely too, again it is a personal choice, but getting back to the drive shaft I have to wonder if quality controll is slipping and some are not being hardened properly:rolleyes:

The drive shaft probably failed because he has a friend that went darkside. Darkside is a bad bad thing. Makes the food in your refrigerator spoil and can cause herpes.
