Really do not care for how they are made. Springs?
Complaints about fit are a concern as well. But, all tis down the line a ways for me and I shall see . . . I'm not saying, "no way".
Bull, sorry for the delay answering, computer died !
I did mock up a set of 2" headers about 18 months ago, yep can build it and yep, you will most definitely roast your leg on them, so decided if I can't build them with out a major heat issue, I won't build them.
I could tighten this up a little, but it ain't going to make much difference.
Besides that, the market is VERY small for this size pipe, it's not worth the development time for how many units ?
Paul,
Gratitude for your response.
Tis a darn shame because those look sweet!!!
What about going forward off the head then down between the radiator and brake pedal then go rearward, under the peg rail along the case, under the master cylinder and then out to the rear axle with the can?
If tucked under and inboard of the peg there should be enough clearance, even for a twisty hoon like me.
I can build anything you want, how it will work I have no idea.
I too am a hard rider, no doubt you have seen some of my rear tyres !
I'm not too sure just how much cornering clearance you would have with a set up like this, I'll have to stare at the bike for a bit and see what my mind can conjure up !
It would be easy for me to duplicate the Carpenter pipe, either of them, but I think it would be a little tacky just to copy some one else's design.
I do like to weld everything together, that way there are no leaks anywhere, personally I don't like the slip joint and spring set up, it's fine when it's all new .......
And one thing to note;
There is more to the Carpenter pipe than meets the eye ........ and it's not the pipe
As you know Paul, i too am a fan for Fat Two inch headers...i,m awatchin with interest...thinking...forward, down, under, into one collector...dunno...

Sure they're loud, but you could get them any size, no ground clearance issues as they stick up, no heat issues unless you touch them and no back pressure.
