Thanks for all the replies @Clay @motolink and @kenne
That's all good to know, down here in Tassie they have whole suburbs that are housing commission areas that are no go places if you want a normal life.
Yep I grew up in Houso suburbs in Launceston, Mayfield, Dover st and Ravenswood ...........made for colorful teen years

I Like fishing

From the shore? No way. Here in the USA that is a Wahoo or King Fish. Fast fierce fight. Great steaks. Good catch mate.

I'm about two years from retirement, my nephew seen here with the tuna we caught off Nantucket has got me back into fishing. I'm a catch and release guy on my own,but when it comes to cashing in on tuna big $$$.

Hi my Daughter is moving to QLD to study Veterinary science, so we will be moving her up in a few weeks to live in Gatton or Laidley and I was wondering if anyone knows what those places are like to live in and if there are any rough areas to stay clear of.
Cheers Pete
You should enjoy the area. Guessing your daughter will be going to Agricultural Uni at Gatton. Went there myself in 1970 doing Animal Husbandry. Now a train driver? Go figure.
They have removed the permits for boats on Somerset Dam which is sort of in the area, for some fresh water fishing/activities. Nice ride on the bikes up to and around that area.
As others have stated, there are some great riding roads in the region.

@flyreels and others, how bout a get together.
Hope you have settled in ok Pete
Hi mate we can't get the internet on in Gatton no lines available and no nbn until mid next year lol, so I haven't been on for a while. We went to Dubbo to the zoo over the weekend for my daughters birthday so we had a good time there. We will be going back to Tassie this week and she will be staying in a share house with other students as my wife has had a good job offer back in Tassie.
