I have the opportunity to buy a 2011 Triumph Speed Triple. 11,000 miles, beautiful bike. Every bike I've had were Japanese (Honda VFRs, CBRs, and a Kawi zx-10r).

I want an upright, torquey, hooligan-esque bike and I think this SP3 can deliver, I just don't want a unreliable POS that costs tons to fix, is finnicky, etc, things you'd normally associate with certain other Euro makes.

How have these Speed triples been in the reliability department? Service intervals? I know it's coming up on it's 12k interval.

Morning/afternoon/evening (depending on your time zone)

The Street triple is a nice bike.

If you want an upright, torquey, hooligan-esque bike then you're in the right spot. I would recommend the Rocket 3 as this beautiful machine meets these needs and more.

But if it's advice on the street triple you need then you will have a more engaged conversation on the SP3 web page.

Just saying

Remember it's all about the ride

What are you using the bike for? for sheer torque nothing beats the Rocket if you are in traffic or have nice twistier roads then go for the speed triple and if anyone tells you the Rocket handles ae well as the speed triple in corners please call the yellow van for them.
As said check the SP site for any known issues but the triple engine is a proven reliable engine.

I have a 2014 Roadster and a 2001 Speed Triple. If you want a proper hooligans bike the speed triple is the original factory street fighter and the one that all others followed. As far as reliability goes don’t try starting on a flat battery and all will be good . Mines at 35k and has had zero reliability problems. They are great bikes but most of all they definitely have that Triumph soul that you can’t quite put your finger on but makes them so special. As far as servicing goes I change the oil and filter on mine ever year. Checked my valve ckearances at 30k and they were spot on. And they are easy to work on so don’t bother with the dealers unless you want the regular 10k stamp in the book.

I had a 2008 Speed Triple........Bad A$$. Loved it. Had a pipe and would blow away a lot of bikes, including my Rockets. A Hooligan Street fighter. But....my old a$$ couldn't stay bent like a pretzel, so I traded back to a 2007 Rocket Standard. If you want to travel with it, haul it in your trunk

Street triple is a totally different bike to a speed triple.

I have both - the speed triple is twitcher at speed but better through the corners. The Rocket isn’t as far off as it should be. The fact that ive put 4k on the Rocket and only 500 miles on the speedy this year tells its own story. That will be changing now it’s winter
