GiPro doesn't give you more power but unlocks the 7% Triumph takes away/limits in the first three gears. Best bang for you buck; no question.
I also removed secondaries at the same time and the 2 changes together gave me much smoother delivery of power. I wouldn't remove secondaries (again) without going with triple filters because it takes almost twice as long to put the thing back together than the actual install. Of course changing filters means you should consider exhaust mod too and will mean you also need to go the tuning route as well (Tunebay, Tune ECU, PCIII/PCV, Dobeck) BUT if you do those mods the cost should be somewhere between $1K and $2K depending on what you actually do and the outcome will be an amazing improvement. I can get my front wheel up (not that I do) just by blipping the throttle at around 3000rpm - anywhere between 2 - 4,000rpm actually. Acceleration is startling.

I got my GiPro off e-Bay and had no trouble installing it with the help of the instructions and guidence here - mostly from HellFire. Cost me about AU$150-$180 from memory.
Removing secondaries is dead easy, albeit a bit nerve-wracking, cost nothing and there are good instructions for that on here too.
Get your filters from Flip (link above). 30 second install once you've removed what you have to.
I've seen second hand TORs and other exhaust here and on e-Bay and elsewhere from about $400. Cat bypass $150. Even new gear won't cost too much more than double that.
Tuning options range from $20 to $400 plus dyno costs if needed. Lots of info on here about all them including some comparisons.

Try the GiPro first but be warned, the bug will bite you.

Found a GIPRO on ebay this morning, only lists Compatibility up to 2010 model year, I would think it works with the 2011 but I am waiting to order until that is verified. :D
 
Bonecarver i also had mine from a company on ebay , just gave them the year and model and they sent the correct gipro out. I have the triumph tors pipes and under seat k+n filter and im over the moon with the bang for buck ,its change the bike into so much more. Read all you can on here about fitting but dont be put off it really is very easy to do . Any probs mate and give me a PM and i will help you if i can. But theres now this little devil in my head saying take out the secondaries:eek:
 
I don't have a Gipro but from the reviews of other Captains it certainly sounds like a great initial step.

Since I already had a netbook computer, however, I went the TuneECU route. Cost me < $20 for a cable and I could accomplish everything that the Gipro does. The biggest thing is simply opening up the secondaries to 100%. You do not have to remove them.

Later when I did the triple air filter mod (best thing I've done so far), I did remove the secondaries simply because everything was open. I already have Stainintune exhausts so the beast was definitely breathing easier.

With TuneECU (and Tuneboy for more money) you also have a lot of information and capability at your fingertips. You can correct the speedo, up the speed limiter (not that I'm ever going to stretch it to begin with!) and perform many other diagnostic and maintenance procedures. Things like synching the throttle bodies, an important procedure to get smooth power delivery, very easily. I'm nowhere close to being a qualified wrench and it's simple enough for me to do.

To make a long story longer, get your Gipro and enjoy its benefits. When you're ready to push the envelope a bit further, additional steps are not terribly expensive.
 
The only interresting thing about GiPro is to count for you from
1 to 5 , the gear who is engaged ! I think it's rather expensive
for doing that ! If you are able to count , you will quickly know
that with Tune Ecu (free) and the interface cable (around 15$)
you can do as ( and much more ) GiPro ( more than 100$) !

I agree. if you use tuneecu and open the secondaries to 100 % and copy the I4 table to I1-3 you would have the same results for the cost of the cable. I got mine off amazon. cost a little more but didn't ship from china.

Yep Gipro atre is great i installed one on my 09 standard removed secondarys removed catbox added TORS and installed tripple k&n filters and used tune ecu.
couldnt imagine riding the stock version again :D

Speaking of exhaust, I am dying to let one of my buddies ride the bike so I can hear what it sounds like... My kid says it sounds like a Volkswagen Rabbit.... :rolleyes:

Exhaust is very restricted stock (think Singer Sewing machine note). The Tourer is also detuned from the Standard for more torque i.e. more restrictive exhaust. You have to the let the beast breathe and exhale, so change the exhaust to anything (even TORs) and you'll make more ponies. Change the intake side and you'll have a real beast. The Tuneboy allows you to open the secondaries to 100% in all gears (when you click 1st you'll hear a slight noise change as the secondaries open) without the potential of dropping itty-bitty screws into the throttle body.:eek:

Just start tweaking and you'll see a major difference pretty quick. Also change out your spark plugs to Iridiums as a first course (cheap, easy and it will run better). Have fun becoming a power monger.

You should be first to the light even stock!!!! But yes the GiPro is a great affordable solution for an easy upgrade.
