Does the GIPro help with the exhaust/triple K&N's?
It only restores the power lost in 1st-3rd from the built in timing retard (safety) Triumph programs in from the factory, no additional power increase overall. But the results make the bike so much fun off the line and in those gears. It's a handy little gadget that doesn't require any changes to fuel trim to use.

So, this has to do with the secondary’s? Yea, those are long gone after the first day of ownership.

ehhh, no, well... sort of. The GiPro w/ATRE (Advanced Timing Retard Eliminator) works with mainly the ignition timing. But actually it brings whatever the bike is tuned for in 4th or 5th gear depending on the setting. The idea is that Triumph detuned the bike in 1st-3rd, so by tricking it into thinking it's in 4th or 5th you develope full power. The secondary removal deffinately helps, it gives instant throttle response, makes wide open really wide open, and takes control away from the ECU.
The combination of a GiPro and removing the secondaries makes it a totally different bike.

Bryon,

My R3R did not come with this trim piece either. Maybe that's where Triumph drew the line on "dressing up" the Roadster? Or maybe the guy that's supposed to fit that part went out for tea and never came back?

I do think that if they intentionally chose to not dress up this area, they could have at least used chromed bolts.

Let me know what your dealer says! If this part is supposed to be there, I will be calling mine!

Thanks,
DC

I’m looking to see if other Roadsters owners are either missing this gauge chrome trim part or if it was just on my own.

This chrome trim part covers the two screws that hold the tach/Speedo on the top clamp. I would like to buy this part but have no idea of the part name or part number.
A local Captain has this on his R3 I noticed.

Most folks with stripped down, "Roadster", type bikes are looking to remove all the weight and excess they can. You're looking to dress yours up. That's okay I reckon... The real funnies are the guys that buy this bike and then immediately start looking for bags, shields, etc... lol

Hey, thats me. More power, ABS.......with bag wind screen, what more could you want??? Ends up being one bad ass cruiser.

Well, may you soon have the bike of your dreams! :)

Out of curiosity, did you consider buying the Touring? As I understand it, you can tune that engine to standard specs at the cost of a Tuneboy (roughly $400, IIRC).

Yes, very much so...but it does not have the ABS brakes (this was the deciding factor) or the flat black paint option. This will be the coolest bagger around for miles, but the bags won’t be on for more than (quick detach) I will need them.

As I understand, the dealer told me that the power output (4 or 6 HP/TQ) could not be achieved by just a tune alone. One would need exhaust and intake mods.
