hello all , can someone tell me how to add my location to member map..thanks
Been after web master a while now to fix the map,my location shows me about 175 miles away from where I actually live. My son lives less than 5 miles from me and its showing him 100 miles in another direction. Not much good if someone is looking for you or needs help from a local

The map function was never intended to show where someone resides, in the way the FBI might want to know where a perp is hanging.

This was/is only to add to the sense of community since many of us have never (or rarely) seen a Rocket in the wild apart from organized meets.

And the actual mechanism is meant to further separate personally identifiable information from the Captain by using the flakey ISP information, which for example, when I was in Baghdad, showed me in Topeka. Similarly, a member in the southern US recently asked us why his flag was showing Canada. A shoulder shrug was the best we could do, as we do not know what ISP everyone is using, hence cannot know the particular routing that is used for a given Captain's data.

Hope that helps.

thanks, but the map doesnt even list me anywhwere ...

All I can say, is that adding the map function was a switch on a site upgrade about four years ago -- and we can take no credit nor blame for how well it works, as this feature is so far down on our priority list after providing actual utility from the user interactions, user searches, and defense against the constant barrage of bots and wannabe hackers, done so well we almost never see bad actors on this site. The map function -- that's just the way it is.
