Lube the splines...

You are correct
It pushes the driveshaft forward I would do the same as you only maybe a little earlier on the oil change

OMG! Superb instructions and tips! I'll do mine at tire change for sure!

finally, after hours and hours of research and going through reviews etc, I found this brand tools and purchased both of them to work with studs.

"using the nut method remove and re-install the stud..."

I can see how one of these might be handy, although using two standard metric nuts stacked from the hardware store on the studs worked for me. Since the first time I haven't had the studs come loose again.

From reading this thread I gathered that the threads on the studs are M12 1mm and M12 1.25mm pitch correct?
I ordered the Honda HN 08798-9010 MOLY PASTE (M77) on Amazon but won't get it until second week of May so it'll be around 11k miles before I get to it.
Even if the cap nuts come off without the studs it might be a good idea to use the double nuts and check torque just to make sure they didn't get loose.

I wouldn’t be “ checking the torque”, you may break them loose from the locktite. If loose, they will come with the cap nuts.

Sorry, I don't recall the size on those, but they were common metric size nuts available at the hardware store
