loss of rear wheel traction when downshifting

anyone else do this? I seem to do it a lot, so much so that My rear tire is worn to the threads after 3500 miles. Its the stock metz tire. Its a bad habit I've picked up when doing fast downshifts, its kind of fun though.

I got almost 10,000 miles out of the Metzler rear tire on my 250 HP roadster .

11,000 miles and could have gone further stock rocket X . Switched to avons and like them.

Letting it out too quickly or blipping way too high. If you're only getting 3,500 miles out of your tire, you're doing something way wrong!

I always try to ride as smooth as possible I do it because its fun and something I learned ROAD RACING and running 6 hour endurance races. you have to make tires last

What's your weight and rear suspension setting?

I'm 6' tall/ 205lbs. Suspension is on 3.

If you normally ride w/o a passenger you could soften it up a notch, which I believe would result in more traction when you downshift. I don't pretend to be an expert and I defer to the many experts on this forum.

Wow. I grew up riding bikes in the early seventy's and in California it was the thing to do, shift smooth and look cool stopping at a street light or stop sign. Taking off always ride a straight line. Never really understood at the time why my uncles insisted on me doing that. Thirty years later after the fact we understand. They just taught me how to ride.

Exactly shift as smooth as possible matching revs no jerky shifts and youll be surprised how long your tires will last
