Kevlar/aramid/Dyneema linings in jeans are only of any use if they are 100% - The downside is that you are adding (usually) a fairly thick lining. And they are usually efficient insulators.

The exception would be SINGLE LAYER DYNEEMA JEANS. The protection is woven into the denim itself. And the are cool rather than warm - I have tried them but I am not comfortable in a "jeans" cut trouser.

Leather has two protection properties - It resists abrasion and as it is sort of spongy absorbs impacts.

Guess again. Bought a pair of chaps a few days ago and wore them into work today. Found them to be warm and very comfortable. Easy on and easy off. Did spend a little bit of money on them and got a high quality and good fit product. Would not recommend in 20 degree weather but for the ride in 40-50 degrees very nice.
