I've been using a big fat USB converter on the Din outlet (never figured out what plugs in *directly* to a Din outlet, btw ) and finally decided to go with a more common sense solution. This involves drilling out the aluminum housing so that it will take the larger standard size 12V USB outlet. I did this before on the other side to install a switch for my marker lights.

The Din outlet is much smaller (seen here). I used a tapering drill bit to increase the size of the opening. Not pretty, but gets covered up by the new switch housing.

This the big honking Din to USB converter that I was using.

The new outlet installed. The marker light button is to the right.

It's a bonus to see the voltage while you're riding and starting the bike. The converter I used previously also had this feature.

I have a 12" USB cord that runs to my phone for GPS navigation, etc. The phone is on a Quad Lock holder with the vibration damper installed.

In case someone asks... the screen bracket is an adjustable bracket from Madstad. I have their larger screen for colder months, but keep it on with the sport screen, as well.

12.1 / 12.2 volts is a dead battery.
Half charge is 12.5ish. full charge is 12.9 volts. Running is what? 13.4?
Why does your say 12.1? Is that just the cheap Chineseium trash being off?

Nice work and looks professional. 12.2 volts is low. You may have discovered a low battery in the process.

Yep, the indicator is off. I may exchange it (easy to swap) and see if I have better luck with another brand. The main thing though is the direct USB connection.

Volt meters are pointless on vehicles all of them. If the voltage is off up or down the battery is not going to charge. You won't even know it's a problem until you get stopped or when it's too late to get back home. So what's the point? It's only use is to troubleshoot issues but then you usually need a volt meter anyways.

Did you find one threaded for the panel or just jam fit an adapter into it?
It's drilled and held in place with the jam nut that comes with the USB. Been there for about 18 months without issue and soooooo muchhhhhh better than adapting the DIN plug- whatever the he11 that's for, anyway....

Do you have a link or part number for it? I'm tired of using the adapter too.
