Lap top or tablet advice.

I am curios if anyone of you has down loaded the Tune Ecu software on a I pad or a tablet. I am unable to down load the software onto my company issued lap top due to layers upon layers of security. I dont want to spend a lot on a lap top or a tablet just to do the tuning on my bike, but if I can keep under $300.00 I guess it would be worth it to have a lap top or tablet with no security or scrutiny. Any Advice or experience on tablets is appreciated.

I'm running it on a Toshiba netbook I bought for less than $250. Handy size that fits in the saddle bags or the T-Bag luggage.

It will work on a small notebook computer with M$, and also on Droid tablets. The TuneECU website will give you the minimum specs needed for that setup.

Buy your IT guy a 6 pack and tell him what you want to do, maybe he'll help you out! IT usually has several spare laptops laying around that they can flash when you're done, and it's always helpful to be friends with your IT guys. FWIW, I have TuneECU installed on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with the Lonelec cable and haven't had any problems loading tunes into my bike.

Morris I bought a 10 inch laptop ($199 AUD) a couple of years ago just for tuning and traveling (since relegated to just tuning as I now have my I-Pad Air2 for travelling) in fact I had it with me whilst over in your neck of the woods just a basic unit running widows XP but it does the job

I have a HP netbook that runs WINDOWS 7 HOME just for travel and tuning. Cost me $120 shipped off of EBay. Have used it for several years now without any issue. It is small and packs really well , only limit is no DVD/CD drive but nowadays everything is downloaded so not really a issue.

I found some refurbished lap tops for under $150.00. Probably pick one up tomorrow and get this thing going. My thoughts now are to wait a few weeks to buy the TORs. But replace the air filter and breathers with the K & N filters and start playing with the tune. I see some talk about Ignition timing, fuel adjustments, and opening the secondaries for additional power benefits. My goals for this summer are performance orientated. The only other addition was some forward highway pegs. This forum has been a big help. I will post results as I have the time to get it all completed. Thanks to all of you for your help.

Same as above but thanks for your input. I have only been on this forum for a week or so and have had the best success with everyone's feed back.I found some refurbished lap tops for under $150.00. I just did the same kind of thing as well, used an old dell laptop I got for $40 and loaded clavigers 'domination' tune onto my 2014 roadster (thanks claviger), the bike is stock except has a k&n in the airbox and i pulled off the snorkel intake thing from the seatpan. I haven't ridden it yet as it's raining but it's idling smoother, could tell the difference even just running the 12min adaptation. Here's the page the tune info is on

I had plenty of trouble with getting the laptop to connect to the ecu (was toying with the thought of smashing the laptop with an axe for a while) and generally had to come to terms with inferior pc again after years of using macs - then i actually read the instructions that came with the cable from lonelec! there were different drivers for the various versions of windows and i had the wrong one. Also I hadn't unzipped the compressed files that the tune and tune ecu program arrived in so had to download a free program to unzip the files...

Another thing i found from a quick google is this very well written step by step guide off the rat net, probably on this forum somewhere I bet



If you take a look at what the claviger tune covers it pretty much does all the things i wanted to try first before spending heaps on exhausts etc: gets rid of the speed limiter, opens the secondaries 100% of the time, disables the o2 sensor and alters the detuned ignition timing. Can't wait to try it out! good luck and have fun!
