Kuryakyn Black ISO Grips, for what it's worth

Chrome

Put chrome grips on last week, twenty minute job. Took longer to get the clutch grip off due to superglue than it did to do anything else, should have done this right from the begining, lesson learned, ask forum before attempting anything that isn't exactly supported by the manufacturer.

Hi, Mine was the same but having custom bars I ground them down a bit and they work fine now.
cheers

It looks like you don't use the metal bar end weights with these grips. Aren't they there to dampen vibration ? I never tried taking mine off to see how difference they make.
Though I've had the Chrome ISOs on for a couple of years now and never put bar end weights back on, I just noticed that between 40 and 50 mph with hands off (I know, I know, I was trying to take a glove off to let some air out of the Air Hawk), the front end starts shimmying and it escalates pretty quickly. I don't typically ride with no hands, but once I knew about it I had to explore further. Doesn't happen below 40 and doesn't happen above 50. Now I think I'll get the Kury chrome bar end weights and see what happens.

I don't think the bar end weights will solve that problem - although they might. I think it more likely to be that your head stock needs tightening. If the weights don't fix it, try that.

I had the exact same issues a while back and tightening the bold to hold the triple tree on solved my problem with the wobble.

Richard is right on the money bar end weight don't stop front wheel shimmy it will either be a loose steering head bearings or a worn tyre can also be the culprit.
Bar end weight are only there to dampen and remove or reduce vibration in the handle bars, I have the ISO grips with the optional end weight and have no vibration .... I love Em

Thanks, guys, I'll check the head bearings and hardware and let you know.

Cupping of the front tire can also be a culprit there. Metzeler Marathons are reportedly very prone to it.

I've been considering yanking the useless grip heaters on mine and getting the Isos. If I do, thankfully I want chrome so that's part number 6236 with the tube included.

I fitted these up last Sunday and over the past to days im fkn impressed , i also have the throttle boss wich really helps as i get nerve pain from a dodgy back/neck , bars seem to have a bit more vibration due to not having end weights anymore but the grips are very comfy.

I put a pair of Kuryakyn ISO Grips on a couple of months ago. My previous grips were 2 plastic tubes that the foam outer had completely fallen off. I love them. No vibration. Large diameter I find comfortable. My bar end weights came in a box of parts when I got my bike so no step backwards for me.
