K&N TB-2204 Anyone bought one cheaper than $70-$74?

Save your $70 plus bucks the under the seat K&N DOES NOTHING. If you want an improvement do as mentioned , triple K&Ns lets the bike suck in the air and get tuneboy to play with the tunes.
You really need tuneboy if you want to know what your bike is doing.

I bought one off of eBay for $50 delivered a while back.

They're $61 now, so maybe I got a deal.

All in all, though. I'd buy one from our own Flipmeister.

thanks, that seems way above my head as do all these extra tunes out there. The drop in my be as far as I go with this.

The first thing I did after buying my bike was to blow money on an underseat K&N. I ran it for 2k miles and then did the triples, sold the underseat filter to a guy on the site at a big loss. I got the filter because I have always used K&N in all my cars and in each one I noticed an improvement, but not in this case. On an R3 the intake restriction is NOT the filter ... it's all the BS that routes the air to the throttle bodies. Hell, the hole right on top of the filter itself is only half the diameter of just one piston, and the snorkle under the seat is even smaller. So my point is don't waste your money on upgrading the filter under the seat unless you just like to clean and oil K&N's. Maybe one day you will get the confidence to do the triple conversion, it's not hard at all and the benefits are well worth the effort.
There is an undertank option that only requires you to remove one intake hose under the tank and put a small filter on the crank case breather. That set up will at least give you a performance benefit for your money. Here is the sticky for that option ....

The under tank version appears to require K&N RU-5111 (large) and one 62-1340 (case breather).
I was wondering if K&N made another filter just like the 5111 except flatter (oval), one that shape might fit even better under the tank.

Do any of you have touring R3's that you have put the triples on, so far it I have only seen the classic and standard bikes with them. I rode both before buying and realized the touring model is very much different than the original.

Yes, I have, as have a few others. There's no difference in the installation.

Fresh Install of Tripples, Tuneboy, D&D on an R3T

Howdy everyone,

Just put the pipes on last night and went for a test ride. What a difference! Didn't want to push it too hard in the dark, I'll know more after the weekend, but except maybe for first gear (Scary! Make sure you're pointed in a straight line! And yes, I'm pretty sure the front will lift even with my 270lb on it!)... this is how the bike should have came from the factory.

Love the sound of the D&D's, they might be a little loud for some though. Sounds exotic under a load pulling away. Didn't mind the additional intake noise. I do hear slight poping out the intake and am glad I decide to get the K&N's.

Anybody want some brand new TuneBoy filters? I also have the K&N that came with the D&D's
