Here is a very disturbing update on my electrical issue...just off the phone with the dealer and the service manager actually told me, and I do not kid you these were his exact words..."these electrical issues with triumph motorcycles are known and when after considerable attempts to solve them go unresolved the motorcycle is JUST DONE"

Thats right, he actually said they are JUST DONE. So like, I am supposed to throw the motorcycle in the landfill? I get the big joke about how the Brits cant figure out how to do the electrical and all but at some point you think "Really"? Other manufactures have done a reasonable job, so when does a group of execs sit down and come up with a brilliant idea like "hey why dont we see how they do it"? I guess my next move is track down one of these beaver tail relay gizmos and see if that will solve my problem. I was hoping by the 2010 model I would have has a free pass on that issue. Thanks for everyone's support...I really do love this motorcycle and that of course is what make it all the more painful to watch it sit in my garage. -Doug

@Douglas
WOW!
I sure am sorry to read of all your 'lectric gremlins. How disheartening this must be!
I hate when stuff goes awry that I know little about. Tis super aggravating!
I remember the old limey motor electric issues of the 50s & 60s, but thought them long gone . . .
I have not read of many stator issues on our R3Rs, but that's just me, one peep, and makes little difference -
The SAME little difference as the one peep you spoke with!
I would get with Ken @DEcosse for help sorting this out.

That don't sound right at all. (JUST DONE) Lets get the Experts on this issue.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Your dealer and his "techs" (sic) are both clueless and worthless

Right up front - An Eastern Beaver Kit will do nothing for your issue (and does not apply to your model anyway) - so save your money there.

Let me find some time to reply to your original post and see if I can point you the way - it will need you to have a MultiMeter and some basic electrical skills however, but I can probably steer you with as much detail as you need.

Since you have a 2010, can you please give the last 6 numbers of the VIN
And also, can you check behind the Right Side panel - do you have two or three relays located there?

The 2010's up-to-482857 and from 500141 to 503166 came from factory with just one relay in the Starter/Headlight circuit - there should have been a factory recall kit to add that second relay (the other relay behind the right panel is the Flasher)
IF your bike is in the range noted above it SHOULD have had that relay fitted under recall - however given that your dealer is a moron, it may not have been done.
If it was NOT done, then that could explain a lot (I'll explain further if/as/when it's applicable not to confuse further for the moment)

Thanks DEcosse...I do have a multimeter...basic electrical somewhat, although my stereo still baffles me!! I mean really-words coming out of wires!!? I have a fellow coming over tomorrow who does have more knowledge than I and I will keep you posted as to our progress...thanks for the heads up on the beaver kit...that saved me some time and $$-Doug

Can you at least check the VIN number against the range quoted and also have a quick look behind that right side cover for me?

I can but am at work right now...2:45 pm here in anchorage...as soon as i can I will-Thanks
