Just brought my next to new Triumph rocket 3 tourer 2006

Welcome from another Aussie mate
cheers everyone, we put the new fuel pump on but battery was dead even though it said it was fully charged. you could hear the fuel pump working but only a short thump when trying to start it. time to go through all the different bits

Hi mate and welcome.

Hopefully once a new battery is in the poor girl will come to life again
Unfortunatley, nothing lights gauges and fuel pump come on but when trying to start it no crank just one click and all the power drains for about a second. and then all the power comes back try again and does the same thing. relays and fuses seem fine. i will have to take it in to get done which means i dont learn how to fix it. anyway cheers all

Hi Canberrar3 my bad i ment to say 2006 rocket 3 touring not tourer.

If it's an '06 it's most likely a Tourer. These actually were an '07 only model although I'd imagine a number would have been '06 build. The a Tourer was really just a Classic with screen, panniers, backrest/rack (and silver engines) - done as a run-out to shift the silver engines I bet. Triumph did the same thing (screen, bags, backrest) in '09 with Standards to shift them before the Roadster came along.

The Touring is a different beast altogether with single headlight, gauges on the tank, hard bags and narrower (and smaller) rear wheel. They were first released in '08.

Not that any of this matters, except for when you might be seeking help with something and it's important to know which model you have.

mine has the 2 headlights, i didnt get any paperwork with it apart from the rego papers which it doesnt tell me much. had windshield, saddlebags, passenger seat rest,

i love this site i have learnt so much already going through the different threads, i am very mechanically minded but i want to be able to do all the basics with the bike in the future so i know it inside and out and dont need to call people when something goes wrong. :)
