Jumping out of gear - HELP

I rang Chris at Triumph Australia before I dropped it into the dealer. He said it can be fixed by only pulling the front cover and is an hour's work. My dealer had already told me he'd tried to it that way first. Sounds like some dealers said they pulled the engine but I'd be checking that they actually did that. They certainly don't NEED to so I'd be questioning that too. Mine took a bit longer because the sump had to be pulled to retrieve all the broken bits but Triumph covered the lot. Helps to be dealing with honorable people.

Tomcat on a Tiger???

Might even be a KTM 990 SMT yet.. waiting on a demo ride and will decide then between the KTM and the Tiger. Parts supply and getting fisted price-wise making me reluctant to go Triumph again. Be ok if i only rode every now and then but i ride every day , i don't even own a car. I need a relaible bike and parts back-up if something f#cks up. This bull**** waiting 6-8 weeks for a part is no good to me.

Now that I figured out what the problem is with the help of this and other threads. I have to wonder if the detent spring is part of the upgrade kit? I know the roller is and it should come with a new spring since you're in there anyway. If not would an upgrade kit one year old be warranted on a 6yr old bike sold out of the crate in April 08'?

The detente spring is NOT part of kit. It is a relatively easy "do it yourself" project. No special tools required, other than an impact wrench.

I alway figure there is no harm in asking..Ya never know ya luck

Jumping out of gear -- the saga continues

Over the last year, I have spoken to my dealer, called Triumph directly (they are just a few miles away outside of Atlanta in Newnan, Georgia), spoke to the Rep in person at Triumph open house; after about 10 months, they, Triumph agreed to provide the repair kit and I must foot the cost of the service - a whopping $1500.00. Moaning and groaning, complaining that TRiumph did not care and was infact letting me GO MY OWN WAY, I agreed to the service. On Jan 28th, 2012, I took my Bike to the Dealer - [I was given a loaner R3T for the duration of the service], every two weeks or so I checked, finally on May 20th, 2012, I got it back.
Positives - it feels a bit better; shifts well.
Negatives - downshifting to first it is still hit and miss. Grates and goes to neutral - so just as before.
WORST OF ALL TRIUMPH WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REPAIR -WILL NOT WARRANTY ANY OF THE PART IN THE KIT. WHEN ASKED THEY [TRIUMPH] CLAIMS THE KIT WAS A GOOD WILL GESTURE INTENDED TO IMPROVE SHIFTING OF THE GEARS: THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A DEFECT OR NEED FOR RECALL, LIABILITY OR FAULT.
HOW CAN THEY BE SO UNCARING? THE MOTO SAYS IT ALL -GO YOUR OWN WAY. JUST GO AWAY.

Go your own way. You said it all there, that's what I found as soon as the bike was out of warranty.

That's a pisser. Does anybody know, when they install the upgrade, what parts are changed in the transmission ? I believe it has something to do with second gear. Were there out of speck parts installed in some bikes, or did they make an improvement to some of the parts ? I have worked on quite a few bike trannies and they are very picky.
The tolerances are very close. If everything is right, you can beat the snot out of them, but even a tiny misalignment and they become a problem. Often times you open one up and everything looks fine.

I wish I had some advice for you. If they have washed their hands of you, you don't have a lot of recourse. You could hire a lawyer and go after the dealer for the labor cost. Not sure that would be cost effective. You could broom paint it yellow and put a sign on it saying "Triumph took my money and gave me this" and " So and so dealer took my money and didn't fix it". A guy did that with a car around here some years ago. I only saw it a few times. Always wondered if he got someones attention with it. Nowadays you'd probably get sued for slander. I wish you lived nearby. I would open up that tranny and see if I could fix it free of charge.

Taking my son to school this morning I changed down to second at the bottom of my street and it just popped into neutral. Dropped down to first and changed up to second and it popped out again. A little further on it popped out of 3rd (GiPro also showed 0) when decelerating. Put it in second, went round the corner and it popped out when accelerating. When I got to school finding neutral was easier than normal - softer - but the light didn't come on until I gave the lever a gentle tap. Riding home it seemed a bit better but still popped out of second once round a corner. Seems to be klunking into 2nd the same as it usually does into first. Going into first is also a lottery now and it seems to be finding a neutral both above and below 1st.

No unusual noises and it's never done this before. Rode home yesterday, all fine, and parked it. This morning it did it with the first gear change.

Before I take it to the dealer - which I don't want to do but noone else seems to want to touch Triumphs around here - any thoughts or suggestions?
Hi new to here but going on what you saying about gears jumping out inside gearbox there is bolt that connects the selector common fault it comes loose
