Jardines vs TORS and bypass

more information

Piggr, I recieved the current tune from DougL. 20050_2 that Doug remapped and sent to me. As memory serves,
on L1 at TP "0" 610 across the RPM range..
on L2 at TP "0" 620 across the RPM range..
on L3 at TP "0" 650 across the RPM range..
This tune did help a lot but when the weather here started getting hot like nearing 100 for the last few days...it seems to be popping a lot more than in cooler weather with more air density. I have the cat bypass and under the fuel tank K&N and the o2 sensor shut off as well.
Do you have a suggestion that may work better? or maybe worth a try? SB.

I'll rework the tune and use the lastest Triumph tune as a base as well. You can get the afterfiring to stop but it is a delicate balance to make sure the throttle isn't too snatchy at small throttle openings.

If any of you guys with the TORs and bypass upgrade to the Jars let me know. I have the TORs only on my bike now, just need the bypass. I would be happy to take the bypass off your hands

I have the same issues with this tune. It still pops a bit when the temps get high. I think the settings for the "0" rows are OK but you could first try raising them by a uniform percentage. Pig9r has some tunes (smoothdecel and smoothdecel2) in the trading tunes/tuneboy modified tunes section on the first page. I have tried making the L tables richer but got to a point where the throttle response was sluggish.

I'm OK with this tune now and am not going to screw with it anymore. I don't see how you get it perfect with hit or miss adjustments. If you can find a dyno tuner who will work with tuneboy, you may get some success but it would probably be quite expensive.

You could also add a PCIII and have it custom tuned - for an additional $600+.

Doug: The decel pop I am experiencing is very noticable in the RPM range from 1800 RPM down to idle. In city traffic it is very annoying. Yes the tuneup you gave me is a vast improvement over any I have tried.
QUESTION: What do you suppose the result will be if one were to increase the percentile through the effected RPM range only on the "o" setting line? Do you still think It would make the engine sluggish under power through that range? Currently I don't find the tune you gave me to cause sluggish response at all...in fact it is very crisp on the throttle response.
In part, I don't think a dyno tuner is what is needed as power is still in the tuneup only on decel does it lean out and bang away. You may be on the right track in accepting this noise and it could be that I either learn to love the decel pop or get rid of the bike.:(
First I would like to try everything I can to get rid of the popping. I do find it curious that no one has commented on whether the decel pop is still so evident with the Jars as opposed to the TORs....HMMMM.....SB.

pop rock, pop goes the weasle, popeye

OK, Back to my original question, who has ridden with both exhausts and can tell me which is deeper, rumblier, bassier and meaner? Should I sell my TORS/Bypass and upgrade to the more pricey Jardines?
Thanks a heap,
Duane

I have heard both, and the Jars have the deeper sound. Louder though. Maddogs are about the deepest I have heard, but don't sound as "mean" as the Jars.

There have been some complaints about the fit and finish of the Jars not being very good.

Jardines

well my 2 cents ;)
I had the cat eliminator and TORs , and went to the Jardines just this week...all previuos reports are true, the Jars sound much much meaner (and louder) . Although I intend to do away with my pipes as soon as I order my turbo kit, and use a universal Supertrapp (only keeping the jardine header)

Welcome TexasTriple, glad you joined in. You'll enjoy this site.
How about pics of bike and where are you located?
Again let me welcome you aboard.:D:D
