Jardines Too Loud??

If you ever get tired of the drone of the Jardines on a long trip I think I've found a solution.

Installed a set of Monster QQ baffles from Big City Thunder last week. Easy to install and they really take the Jardines down a notch. Part number QBL 2125 fits the head pipes on the R3T and most likely all other models as well.

They claim in increase in torque and maybe there is, but likely at a cost of some high rpm horsepower. For the riding I do, its a reasonable tradeoff.
 
You are the man! Going to pick up a set for sure, just for long trips.

Run it without the baffle then with it,
BIG difference in torque.
One thing about them is the bolt.
I lost 2 before I figured out a way to keep the baffle in there.
First I just used their screw.
Blew the baffle out somewhere, never did find it.
ordered another one.
put aircraft locktight on the screw of that one.
Figured if it'd hold a jet engine together, it'd hold a baffle.
WRONG, lost another one.
Finally the third one,
I drilled all the way through the pipe & baffle,
used a long bolt and double nutted it.
That one stayed in.
 
Guess I better wheel her out and check those screws. Thanks for the heads up Skip.
 
Picked mine up today from Big City Thunder in Matthews NC, they are great folks. Plan on installing in the morning then hopefully a test ride in the afternoon. I've had the jardines on since I bought it with 1400 miles. Never have heard a stock exhaust. Always been a little loud for me but love the performance, hope this works.
 
Monster QQ Baffles

Got them installed today, I was able to put the cone tip to the front so they are completely inside the head pipes as they were originally designed to be. I used lock nuts on the cap bolts to secure the baffle in place.





Took a quick run to the Post Office and noticed an exhaust leak, forgot to reinstall the O2 sensor (DUH) Got her home without loosing the dangling sensor Second run was much better, same performance as before the install but a lower decibel and much mellower tone. Low end TQ is great and I still have no decel popping. Definitely an improvement, I've worn earbuds hooked to my Iphone most of the time to cut down on the exhaust noise, now I'll wear them to cut down on the wind noise but at a much lower volume setting. Don't think about it, just do it , you wont be disappointed.

Might try a longer screw where a man could double nut it,
me, I didn't think that far ahead.
After loosing 2 I figured I'd make sure the third one stayed...

Just a thought..

I think the extreme heat will kill the loctight.. you could maybe try Exhaust Joint Sealant paste on the thread but it bakes like concrete

Yep, red locktight on the cap screw as suggested through the welded in nut, plus the serrated lock-nut on the inside. Should be the same as a double nut since the cap screw is tightened to the welded in nut from the outside then the lock nut is tightened over it from the inside. The muffler also butts up against the top of the cap screw which should keep it from coming undone in any case. Only time will tell but if I loose one I'll be surprised. I was surprised that the inside of the muffler baffle is the same size as the inside of the header, I can see how the baffle could shoot out the back if it's not properly secured.

Why not try a steel lock nut. (not the nylock type!)
There is one there that is for high temperature, "also called the jet nut"
