It's a Bird, It's a Plane...

Glad to hear it, Robert. My hat is off to you, Sir.

You just can't resist rubbing it in though, can 'ya?

I can certainly understand why Triumph reduced the power, the danger factor for an inexperienced rider would be very high without it. But there should be a way for the dealer to "turn it off" after the owner has gained experience. What a selling point that would make ... "so powerful you have to show us your ready to handle it". There should be an easy little upgrade you can buy and plug in that says Triumph on it.
Too bad, bikers in the US would eat something like that up ... all the talk would be like free advertising.
oh well ... at least the GiPro isn't too **** expensive or hard to install. It sure turns it into a different bike though don't it?
The "G" in the name must stand for "Grin", 'cause it sure made me smile too on the 1st ride after putting it on. In my case it came after the initial shock and the "Oh****" look on my face.

The 08-10 Suzuki Hayabusa comes with an A-B-C power mode switch which allows the rider to select full, -10%, or approx. -20% power. It works great. You can dial down power in wet or slippery conditions or just ramp it back so an inexperienced rider doesn't accidentally rack the throttle and flip the sucker which can happy real quick.

**** you guys all this talk about how much power these bikes have **** it its winter here in wisconsin i just bought a 08 r3 classic with all the toys . and the bike is still at the dealer 2 hours away and too much salt on the roads stop it no more talking about how great of a ride this is going to be :(

I feel your pain, when I left the house this morning I had to turn around and put on another short sleeved tee-shirt, do you know how hard it is to ride with two t-shirts on:p

Just been on the gipro site and they list one for the R3 but not the R3T specifically (model T01-RD) Is this the model I need?

Yes that is the correct model, and if you do a search for "GI Pro" here you will find a thread that provides detailed install instructions for the R3T, which requires splicing into different colored wires than on either the Classic or Standard models. Good luck and do let us know what you think once you've got it done!

Just don't make the mistake of buying one of their "NEW" models that just plug into the ECM. Those do not have the ATRE function and display gear position only.
Dandiego has suffered through the Touring differences and has posted all the necessary info on how to deal with the extra wire.

I agree HellFire - back in the day I bought probably the fastest car you could in England, a HPC (High performance Caterham - Lotus7) - it was 'only' 170bhp but in a car so light it could easily get the inexperienced into trouble - what the CEO did was insist that anyone buyibg one do a 3 day HPC course - High Performance Club - taught by 2 ex-Police trainers - if you passed you got the car and the course was paid for by the factory, if you failed you did it again at your own expense or the car went to the next on the waitlist - of course if Triumph did insist on something similar they wd lose a ltta sales - so I guess the best they can do TBH is limit the power - they of course know that the tyros will and can pretty easily unleash the beast!
