It took 10 years but I'm finally in the club

Welcome aboard! I'm a newbie here too...but I've been around here as a lurker for a long time. Glad you finally found the rocket you wanted...took me years to find mine.

Welcome Tim! I just got mine as well, also a 10 year lurker and lover of the R3 lol, the time was never right until now! So glad these beauties are still in production for those of us who said "one day, that will be mine!".

For your tune these are the links you need:
- This is for the program and drivers.
http://www.tuneecu.com/Tunes_in_Hex_and_dat/All_Tunes_sorted_by_model/all_Rocket/Rocket III Touring/R3T_stock_or_slip-on.zip - The tune you want.
http://www.amazon.com/Obdii-Diagnostic-Adapter-Converter-Cable/dp/B002WIN8VQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1407906377&sr=8-2&keywords=tuneecu cable - The cable. I'v had the exact same cable for... 4 years, no issues.

That is all you need. Enjoy sir.

I've been riding Hinckley Triumphs since I bought one of the first Tigers in the US in Jan 95, and was riding Meriden Triumphs (among other bikes) before that. When Triumph first introduced the 2300cc triple I thought it was beautifully ridiculous, and in 2004 I sat on one at Laguna Seca and said "one day I will own one of these beasts". But it wasn't the right time -- I was all about roadracing, and when I wasn't on the track I was adventure touring on a Tiger (after putting 50,000 miles on my '95 I swapped it for an '02). Now though, I've just turned 50 and I don't roadrace any more so the time has come. Last week I picked up a super clean 2010 Touring with only ~8500 miles on the clock and already love it. It is everything I had hoped and more. Emphasis on "more". :)

Cheers,
-tim
Welcome aboard, it took me eight years to get mine. I've had Big Red for almost two years and it just gets better every time I ride it.

Alrighty then. Time for more details. :)

Is that a software-only ECU reprogramming or does it require hardware mods (intake/exhaust/etc) as well? I already have TuneECU and the dongle for reprogramming the ECU on my '02 Tiger so if it's just a matter of map swapping I'm golden. Not that this bike needs 30 more horsepower but what the heck, why not, eh?

I guess I should just go spend some time reading the tuning forums.

I wonder if I'm going to get any work done today at all...

Welcome from one of the Aussie Crew ,the R3T responds well to a bit of a tickle up ,TORS,K&N filter in stock air box and a remap ,you can go a lot further than this , but this is a good start and does transform the Touring into a nicer ride at a reasonable cost.
