Is the 2017 model restricted or not?

Was curious on this cause the Triumph website says the 2017 model restriction in the first three gears is not there like the previous models. However, not sure if that is the Roadster only or not. My bike feels for sure like it is restricted.
I only have the stock exhaust right now and money is tight after buying the bike. What's my best bet for a tune on a stock bike and how do I go about it. I did see the one post on deristricting these bikes but not sure if that applies to the 2017 and I could not find the download.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Even if Triumph have deactivated the secondaries from closing during the last 30% of throttle opening in the 1st and 2nd gears, these bikes are heavily restricted in the cam timing and air box restrictions.

That is why it is so easy to get another 30 RWHP out of them with better filters and a re-tune, not a flash, a proper tune by a reputable tuner on a Dyno.

Also the stock exhaust chokes these bikes pretty much right from the factory, robbing more than a little rwhp and torque.

The prior factory "restriction" on older models was essentially factory-set timing retardation in the first three gears. I believe that all R IIIs sold in the US are speed governed in all 5 gears and I'd be surprised to learn if that is not still the case.

I don't want an overly loud exhaust as my passenger has a tendency to complain on loud exhausts....haha...been there. What is a good bang for the buck slip on and or full system that has decent sound and won't break the bank. I am sure there are 1000 posts on this but since we are on topic here.

Look up Paul Bryant on this site, a super talented exhaust craftsman in New Zealand who is quite reasonable for his top quality creations. He can fab whatever you want.

Hard to avoid spending under $1200, though not impossible. Others here will make some good recommendations soon, no doubt.

If you spend money on slip ons you will later want to do away with the manifold and install a header. Believe me.... I went TORS and then later bought a header system. I should have just used the money that I spent on the TORS and applied to a full system. The header will make a world of difference because you can go with a better tune ... more torque and horsepower.... and still have a quite exhaust.

Get in touch with Paul at Viking Exhaust he makes great header systems as well as slip ons... if you just want to go that route. I got a header from Paul and it changed my bike completely.

I pretty sure all the touring models are restricted. Dump a @HansO tune in her and off you go. Night and day difference.

I agree. If you want the most bang for your buck, and keep her quiet, a $20 cable with a free tune will give you 30 horse power. After that you can decide if you want to upgrade to more power later.

The CARPENTER exhaust systems will give you THE MAXIMUM 165 + HP and a choice of 2 designs and several finishes and are made of 304 STAINLESS STEEL
