Can stock pipes be used with cat bypass? Just starting to consider some performance upgrades on my 06 Rocket Classic, and thought I would start there. Also, would appreciate some feed back on where to find, and what has or has not worked for other guys. I appreciate the help that I find on R3owners!

first thing to get is a gipro atre its plug and play and unleashes the 7 percent that the factory took away by retarding the ignition in the first three gears .
It turns your rocket into a wheelie machine .
they are around 162.00 and there worth every penny and as a bonus they are also a gear indicator if your into that kind a thing .

As for the pipes I would think they would work might need a new tune though dont know for sure .

Yes you can use the cat delete with standar pipes. Go to the dealer and have him load the after market exhaust tune into it. Or Tors tune she will have a little more rumble. The gigpro **** will work but if your going down the pep her up road you might as well think Tune Boy or the other tuning software instead. It all depends on how far down the road you want to go.

Warp you didn't mention that while the Triumph TOR's tune does indeed richen the mixture, it reduces power by closing off the secondaries even more.

Prior to finding out this interesting fact, I had it loaded after installing my first exhaust (before the PCIII, triples, etc.) and noticed right away the bike was slower with less umph on the ride home. For me it defeated the whole purpose of the exhaust since I wasn't after sound ... I was after more power.

Later on I was advised that the Triumph tune is fine if sound is all you're after, but if it's power you want, be ready with either Tune ECU, TuneBoy or a PCIII rather than having the TOR tune installed. That was good advice and I wish I'd heard it BEFORE paying the dealer to slow down my bike. Oh well, live and learn.

If you do just want sound and maybe a little more juice in low gears while just keeping it simple and close to stock without messing with PCIII's, tunes etc., Rocket3jjd is right about the GiPro. That little toy is loads of fun for the money.

I, too have an 06 Classic, and yes...you can install a CAT delete with stock pipes. After purchasing my bike, I was not impressed with the quiet sound coming from my stock pea-shooters. I first installed Triumph TORS pipes and had the dealer re-map, and I honestly did not notice much difference in sound and little or no difference in performance. I then purchased and installed the CAT delete...and the sound was AWESOME...4-5 times as loud and a low, nice "rumble". My plan was to have the dealer re-map again (at a cost of $75 for every re-map) for the CAT delete, but after reading all of the comments on this forum about TuneEcu...I decided to go that route. It took me some time to get comfortable with the thought of re-mapping the ECU myself and understanding TuneEcu, but I can assure you I am very pleased with the decision. TuneEcu is very simple if you read and follow the advice and directions...simply download, then plug computer into your bike and load the map. My bike runs like a bat out of hell now...could not be more pleased. Save your money on re-maps and use TuneEcu...you will not regret it.

If you watch Ebay closely, you can find either new or used CAT bypass (Manifold Upgrade) much cheaper than buying from a parts dealer. Retail is about $350+...I bought mine for $200, and have seen them on Ebay for $250 quite regularly. Good luck.

As far as the "gypro atre" what is the install process on that? Is it "deep tech" or is that something I can do in my garage?
The hardest part is swapping out pins in the GPS connector plug, and that's not hard at all.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 2 in difficulty.

it is totally something you can do in your garage it takes less than an hour
it depends if you want the gear indicator or not i didnt want it as it is a black box that i personally thought was to cheap looking to put near my instrument cluster and i can count and have a tach so i know what gear i am in so i tossed it under the seat next to the battery

to install you have to take the plastic cover off the shifter side right next to the frame rail and pull 2 wires out of the gear position sensor and plug them into the new plug on the gi pro then plug the plugs together (the old with the old and the new with the new ) then i just hooked it to the battery and set it and forget it position 3 i think,
the instructions are pretty easy to follow if you want the gear indicator then you have to lift the tank to run the wires and find a suitable spot to mount it

let us know and if you have problems i know there are threads on this and hellfire will be sure to chime in and give you a hand
as will i

IT IS THE EASIEST WAY TO GET A GOOD BIT OF PERFORMANCE WITHOUT PLAYING WITH ECU PROGRAMS ITS FOOL PROOF AND WELL WORTH IT UNTILL YOU FIND A GOOD DYNO SHOP AND A WHEELBARROW FULL OF FREE CASH TO MAKE REAL HORSEPOWER:D

hope this helps

so what is the advantage of GiPro over TuneEcu? It seems to me that other than the the gear indicator, TuneEcu can do the same as GiPro for the cost of a cable vs. the cost of purchasing GiPro? Not trying to fan any flames, but I recently been a TuneEcu convert and am open to any constructive argument.
