Impressed

roadster

Speaking of the roadster, how do you figure they get the increased hp and torque out of it? Is it because they simply program out the restrictions that are programed into my bike? I have read that they reduced the power output in 1st and 2nd gear to keep rookies like myself from losing it but it can be adjusted to full power by someone who knows what they are doing.

If any of my H-D riding frinds are impressed they keep it to themselves. Guess it hurts too much to say the Triumph is cool. All they ever say is "nice" and then we drop it. As for H-D's, I try hard NOT to ride with them. Nothing aganist them, as I have owned 4, but they simply cannot keep any kind of pace over the day and I'm tired of always watching my mirrors to see where they are! No joke.

I know that if I'm out for the day with the Harley boys it's "parade" time and ride the Bonnie instead of the R3. Bonus: it's quicker than most of 'em-even the "little" 865!

I don't know how others feel but it's real hard to ride the R3 at 55 all day. Hard for me, that is. The bike will do......well, you know.

The acceptance I get from hard core HD guys is one reason I went with Triumph. Just about every HD rider that comments on the bike has a story to tell about his first bike and how it was a Bonneville. I get alot of "Hey I used to have a Triumph, did they start making them again?" They about crap when I tell them they can still buy a brand new Bonneville. It's funny how HD guys accept Triumph as equals and despise everything else.
I think it has alot to do with the fact they evolved at the same time and neither is trying to duplicate the other (they were trying to out-do each other, not look like the other), unlike jap bikes that program a miss at idle so the exhaust sounds like a harley. (that's just sad)

An english newspaper said in their review that is was the exhaust, I think it's a bit more than that. But then again, they are getting the numbers at the crank and not rear wheel like us, so I suppose it could be possible simple low restriction exhaust and simple tunning developed that kind of power at the crank. The paper mentioned that it was near impossible to wheelie, so it still has the power reduction in 1-3.
