Airhawk R- so far very impressed!

Well, the Airhawk isn't so much soft as it spreads the load more evenly. Most people have issues with hotspots, and that's what it alleviates. A normal soft seat people have problems with probably doesn't support appropriately, ie the buns "sink in" too much but the tail bone gets more pressure than it should. I can see a hard Corbin preventing you from sinking in too much so the tailbone doesn't dig in, I guess.

If that's what's going on with the hard seat, then this does the same thing in a different way.

I agree....the Airhawk just distributes your weight out better over the seat surface. Another thing is does is help get you off a hot seat. Not so much of a problem with the rocket because of the air intake design using the seat. My Harley seat use to get really hot from the engine heat migrating into it. The heat in turn makes your butt sweat and that in turn cause fatigue and discomfort. If you have ever had an electric vest and turned the heat up to high, it will actually fatigue you over a relatively short period of time.

Looks suspiciously like a whoopee cushion to me. How much were they?

I gave 179 for mine and now they are 160-170. The ones without the cutout are under 100, around 89 I think. A friend of mine used one on his goldwing and tried it out first but it spread my legs even further so I opted for the cut out. I think the airflow in the cutout is better as well.
