I said I wouldn't do it again but here I am

Don't you love it that every site that you go to that displays a range of prices based on the tire size has the one that fits our Rockets as the most expensive.

I run the Dunlop D404 with my Raptor and it works well for me.

Yep, it is always that way. I guess that is what we get for buying a bike with huge tires on it.

I am going to go ahead and go with the Elite 3s and I will give a report once I get it mounted up with the Raptor. Probably be after next weekend.

My buddy rides a cbr and I don't expect to keep up with him in the twisties, never have been able to even with a mc tire. I hope this Raptor works out, everyone here raves about it, I am sure it will.

btw, most of us run anywhere from 28-31 psi on the Raptor. Since I am on the larger size than most, I run 31 most of the time.

also, fully inflate the front to the max or 1-2 psi below max to prevent cupping.

Have fun and stay safe (i.e. keep off the rear sidewall!)

Thanks, I am 6'5 and 260 so I am going to be running around 34 psi to start off with and see how it feels and wears. If it is wearing down the middle I will drop a couple psi as long as it does not start wearing on the sidewalls.

Anyways, have a good weekend. I am going to go and wear the rest of the metz off my bike today.

I swore off Metz on my 1st Rocket after I went though 4 flats on 3 rear tires in 20,000. buggerdave saved my ass on the last one I owned so I could make it back home from Ark. I put on a Riken Raptor 205 60 16. Narrow and tall. After 33000 on it I'm now looking again for another rear. I put a another Dunlop D404 on the front. This time I want to buy the tire from the same guy who put on the last Raptor.

This is the only dark side that I have tried and with the right pressure its great. For the first few hundred miles I kept an eye on the sidewalls and tread wear. Still looks new. I have taken a few curves at higher than normal speeds and I feel more confident now than I did with the stock tire. I have NO complaints about going dark side or with this tire. Ive noticed that it did go up about $25.00.
It does not try to follow the road groves or drift in the ruts but I think most of that does have to do with air pressure.

Well good to know, when I wear this one out I will get the original tire I was interested in. I will have them mounted up by next weekend and in the mountains next Saturday to put the ds through its paces.

Well I finally got the new rubber mounted. Running 34 psi on the Raptor and it feels good. It is not going to run exactly like a mc tire of course but I had no problem making haste through the twisties on the way home. Time will tell, but it definitely feels better than the Cooper Zeon that I am running on the Valkyrie.
