As some of you may remember from earlier postings I have not been happy at my job for some time. We got bought by a big cooperative from Canada several years ago, and it's been downhill ever since. When I getting ready to off for cancer treatment I was told my role would be changing some. Didn't give it to much thought. When I came back I found I had been demoted to line mechanic. I had been an automation specialist for about ten years prior. Always got good reviews and a raise every year. I came back to find I was right back where I started 19 years earlier, 2nd shift line mechanic. There was one prick from this new company who took a dislike to me. Never did get an answer out of him why. I can only assume I must look like a guy he caught banging his wife. Anyway I landed a job 11 miles from my house (the old job was 37). They matched my rate of pay, I'm back in automation and back on first shift. They have better insurance and better 401K match. The only downside is having been at the other place so long I had 5 weeks of vacation. Only two now, they don't negotiate vacation time. I may have to miss RAA 10

. I think it's going to be a good thing for me though. My old job was sucking the life out of me. Watching them hire all my bosses buddies and they getting the good jobs/hours. Last night was the last day of the pay period. When my shift was over, I loaded up my toolbox left. F_ck their two weeks notice. I will never go back there. That one arsehole has driven nearly all the older experienced maintenance people away. Funny, when they bought that company it was making a million dollars a month profit. For the last couple years we have been losing that much a month. Finally last month we managed to clear $8,000 profit. Shortly after that, the do nothing plant manager had his office remodeled !
