My brand new (1 month old) Kuryakyn mirror needs hip replacement. It started off slowly, moving ever so slightly from where I adjusted it. Over the last two days, 60+ MPH would blow the mirror straight down but I could adjust it back to place easy enough. Then it happened, today on my way to work the ball and socket completely gave out and now the mirror won’t stay in any position. I am going to call Kuryakyn today to see if they will ship me a new one, we will see how that goes.

Trouble is, my wife and I are heading up north (North Shore of Lake Superior MN) for our anniversary and I need a mirror. I know there are Captains far handier than I on this site so if you know of a fix for a loose ball and socket let me know. Thanks.

Well, I don't know about yours since I don't know which ones you have but on mine, if you're standing at the front, looking toward the rear, there are two hex screws on either side of the mirror. I took those off and the mirror split in half, there was a screw inside the half that remains attached to the bike around the ball and socket that could tighten a slider piece that made up half of the socket.

Does that make sense? In other words, half the socket is built into the mirror housing, the other half is adjustable with a screw. Could have been a hex as well, it's been a year so I'm fuzzy.

Makes total sense. Unfortunately, my trip in to work was too long and one of the hex screws came out. Need to make a trip to the hardware store for a replacement. Once I get it I should be all set, thanks for your help.
