So if I understand, you simply take it apart, remove the outer-most butterfly. Put it all back together, and do a 12 minute tune? Pretty simple!!! Just might have to do that on my 2008 Touring.
Yes it is that simple! You may have the motor warning light after the removal. After the 12min tune and some hundret meters on the road the light will disapear.
You can do this without TB oder Powercommander. Shure.
I have put in the GIpro first. It was the best mod so far. Than removed the secondaries. All together is just great. So unfortunatelly I can not say what it will mean with the secondaries only.
But I feel an additional push in the excelleration phase.
Hope you understand what I mean. Just check my how to with the Gipro!
Once you remove the secondary throttle blades, make sure the throttle shaft is rotated completely back to the closed position. This usually keeps the CEL from lighting up. Even if it does, it will turn back off as soon as it gets the secondary TPS and stepper motor back in sinc. - about 10-12 seconds on the road.
What are the Pros and Cons of doing this without a tune afterward?
Can/should I do this on a bone stock 09 R3T without a tune?
Or should I wait untill I go for Pipes, K&N, and tune?
I've been putting this off for a while now, hopefully this weekend I will get to it. Nice work Hardy.:bch:
Terry, this gives you the full capability of your tune/setup in the lower gears. It should make your scooter more snappy (like blip the wrist and the front end comes off) at launch.
Close Bill,
It actually knocks about 3/10 of a second off your throttle response time.
Not much you say?
it's noticable.
For a real kick in the pants, add the Gi-Pro W/ ATRE,
Then you can "Feel" the difference.
I guarantee it.
just my 2 cents.
you can also open the secs to 100% using tuneECU.
I have done this and I am considering changing back a bit, since it is too much drag on 1st and 2nd gear. i don't need it everyday.
removing the secs makes it harder to adjust just how much they should be opened of course.
